Join us for our fall festival at the Newton House - October 13th from 12-5pm. There will be tours of the house, vendors, a food truck, kids activities, live music, a kid's pioneer costume contest, civil war reenactors and much more! The Back to School, Back in Time, open house event at the Red Brick School was a success and so much fun! Thank you to everyone who attended and to the wonderful volunteers that made this event possible. We are continuing to raise funds to paint the inside of this beloved schoolhouse. CCHS Members! I am glad to report that we have crossed the finish line of the Red Brick School House property transfer! Last Thursday, I received the signed documents from Superintendent Dr. Ritzler, and this afternoon I filed those documents with Cass County. We are now the official owners! Congratulations Everyone!

Tonight was our June lecture series at Smith’s Chapel. Thank you to everyone who attended! The history lecture was presented by Darren Bettinger and we had a very special guest, Virginia Hutchinson-Kraft, who was baptized at Smith Chapel in 1926.

We have a tentative agreement!!!! Moments ago, the Cassopolis Public School board, voted to accept the joint proposal of the Cass County Historical Society and the Cass County Historical Commission, for the Red Brick Schoolhouse (corner of M62 and Brick Church Rd in Cassopolis). The next step will be to close on the property in the very near future. Please attend the business meeting tomorrow night, to help start that process. The CCHS June meeting is at the Smith Chapel on Redfield Road. Business starts at 6:30pm, followed by the Smith Chapel presentation.Cass County Historical Commission

The 2023 Newton House Fall Festival is just a few weeks away! Many are working hard to prepare for this fun community event. If you are part of one of the fall festival planning committees or you are interested in helping with this year's festival, please plan to attend the meetings below. Each committee will be giving updates on their progress, and calling out challenges or help that is needed.
All meetings will be held at the Newton House 20689 Marcellus Hwy., Decatur,MI.
