There'll be a longer blog post at sometime analysing the past twelve months but it's not for now. But suffice to say it has been a tough year getting to here and there is no doubt that at times you ask yourself questions about the rationale! You would not be human if you didn't.
Then you waken up at 5am and find that there's another booking in and it all just seems right again.
We got our first booking this morning from Japan. Yup, someone's flying in for WinterStorm from the land of the Rising Sun. And it raised a smile.
And then on checking the database you find that this year is a record. Fifteen, yes, fifteen nationalities have booked tickets to travel to Troon for WinterStorm 2023 this year and it makes me realise that even if some of the decision makers don't quite get it, the most important folk do.
So as we approach the weekend, we will once again remember why we do it and raise a wee glass of something tonight to each of the 1500 artistes, staff, volunteers and music fans from all points of the compass who will descend on Ayrshire.
Fans from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Wales., Ireland, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, USA, Switzerland, Austria, New Zealand, Hungary and Japan.
Artistes from the UK and Ireland, Australia, The States, Brazil, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands.
For those about to travel... We Salute You!
