Pienza is more than just a destination; it's a Renaissance masterpiece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site waiting to be explored.
Why visit Pienza? Here are a few of my top reasons:
A Renaissance Gem: Pienza is celebrated for its example of Renaissance architecture, offering a glimpse into a past
Breathtaking Scenery: Surrounded by the rolling hills of the Val d'Orcia, the views here are the stuff of postcards
Gastronomic Delight: This local cheese is a treat for the taste buds, embodying the rich, gastronomic culture of the region.
Family-Friendly Adventures: With Pienza being car-free and home to a great playground, it's the perfect spot for a family outing
A Cinematic WOW!: For the movie buffs, did you know that the captivating final scene of ‘Gladiator’ was filmed right here in Pienza?

Pasta Fabbri
One of the special things about visiting Italy is partaking in some incredible gastronomic experiences.
What is not to love about the pasta? This artisanal pasta factory in Strada in Chianti uses ancient grains and the pasta is dried longer and slower than the usual heavy weights you find in the grocery stores.
The company has been in business since 1893 and much of the machinery they still use is from the 1960s. In this case, if it aint broke, don’t fix it

Thrilled to share a glimpse into the inspiring Women's International Network of Florence's 10th Annual Member's Fair held recently!
Alongside my colleague Laura, we had the honor of engaging with over 55 English-speaking women, sharing insights and weaving connections.
As an art historian and licensed tour guide with a heartfelt command of fluent Italian, navigating the rich cultural weaves of Italy is a daily passion. 🎨 Living in this enchanting country for many years has deepened my appreciation and expertise in its treasures.
Every encounter here adds a stroke to the canvas of our collective narrative. And what better way to celebrate this than to attend an event that embodies empowerment, knowledge sharing, and building bridges?
I'm delighted to continuously explore and promote the marvels of Florence - its art, history, and legacy. If you're intrigued by the wonders of Florence, I invite you to visit our website for more captivating stories and secrets behind the city's most treasured sites.

If you're planning to travel through Italy on December 26th, it's important to be aware of a national holiday that might lead to the closure of many places.
While it's primarily a religious holiday, you'll find it listed as a national holiday on the calendar, extending the Christmas celebrations just a tad bit longer.
Make sure to check the opening times of trains, buses, restaurants, and museums before finalizing your plans.

#Vasconcelos and her representation of the Happy Family.
These figures also make reference to two famous paintings in the Florentine collections of the Uffizi. Flora (think #Botticelli), the ancient goddess associated with springtime and Bacchus (think #Caravaggio), the Roman god of the grape harvest. Flora and Bacchus cradle a baby doll while holding the ends of a crocheted blanket upon which he rests, partaking in their own pagan ritual. The bodies of the figures are completely covered with intricate lacework, harking back to the not-so-distant past.
A fun weekend in Florence as we gathered in front of the #Duomo for the lighting of the Christmas Tree! #Firenze #Florence
We are in Cortona today, Day 8 of our Pilgrimage visiting Rome, Assisi and Florence...
Practicing their marching cadence in the shade of the tall stone buildings, the echos of the drums bring goosebumps!
We bumped into this public session while touring the back streets of Florence back in June.

PITIGLIANO is charming even in the chill of January.
But it is even more charming in September when "SettembreDivino" takes place every year alongside the grape harvest. For four days, the historic center’s cellars are opened and serve local wines, dishes, and typical products, all accompanied by music and entertainment.
Shall we attend?

Massa Carrara, Tuscany, Italy
You can marvel at the works of art that are produced from the white marble quarried at Massa Carrara or you can marvel at the mountains themselves ... either way you can't go wrong.

Mysterious, elegant, enchanting as well as fresh & cool in the summer, Lago di Como promises a picturesque detour as you travel down the Italian peninsula from north to south.
It is the 3° largest lake in all of Italy and the 5° deepest in all of Europe! But the natural beauty goes way beyond the numbers.
In fact, in 2014, The Huffington Post called it the most beautiful lake in the world for its microclimate and environment with prestigious villas and villages.
Don’t you agree it should be on your itinerary?

Even if you come from an Italian family, you will find that recipes in Italy always vary just a bit (or a lot).
With more than 20 different regions from north to south (and let's add two islands in the mix) you will undoubtedly find that nothing is quite like your fave dish in your special Italian restaurant at home.
Go with it and enjoy the differences, I find they are always delicious!
Ask me if you need a few restaurant ideas while planning your itinerary.

There are many faces to Milan besides the Roman origins, Gothic churches and Leonardo's masterpiece ... the other weekend I went to Milano to discover the Design District.
Navigli is known for its twin canals and its cobblestone streets packed with contemporary art galleries and vintage stores. The neighborhood is central to Milan nightlife, with dining options ranging from pizzerias and waterside trattorias to edgy clubs on barges.
