Virtual experiences
When you are missing Italy, or want to participate in something new, then tune into a wide range of select virtual experiences with My Italian Treasures. Elizabeth reaches out to her trusted collaborators, who embody her philosophy of travel, to ensure top-quality activities. Ranging from cooking classes to bike tours to art discussions, you will find something that w

ill spark your interest, remind you of a past vacation or hopefully, something that will encourage you to plan your next vacation, in person, here in Italy. Florence tours
Elizabeth is not your normal guide and that’s what makes touring with her so memorable. She has studied art history at Smith College, has a masters from Syracuse University and worked in art restoration for several years before giving it up to follow her passion. My Italian Treasures was born of her enthusiasm to share the beauty of her home, Florence Italy. Elizabeth will introduce you to the wonderful artistic creations located all over Italy - the monuments, the churches, the artists, and their secrets. Itinerary tours
Elizabeth boasts over 15 years of hands-on-experience guiding and organizing unique single and multiple-day programs and events throughout Italy, with groups such as Country Walkers, IC Bellagio and Smithsonian Journeys. My Italian Treasures can arrange transport, accommodations, guides, and suggestions for experiences “off the beaten track”. They focus on Tuscany and Florence, as well as itineraries in all the major cities of art, unique coastal landscapes, and many other destinations. Artisanal products
My Italian Treasures has come in contact with many unique handcrafted objects that represent Italy, its culture, and its history. Since in-person travel is limited, Elizabeth recognizes that it is often the artisans that suffer the most when there are no visitors to Italy. In an effort to assist local businesses, My Italian Treasures has a select collection of products available for purchase.

🌿 Olive Harvest 2024 🌿

There’s nothing quite like the start of the olive harvest here in Tuscany. The trees are full, the air is crisp, and we’re ready to bring in this year’s treasures! ✨ Each olive tells a story of the land, the sun, and the careful hands that nurture them. This year’s extra-virgin will be something special. 💚

Here are a few photos as we captured the moments from tree to press. 🫒

💡 Fun Fact: Did you know that many Renaissance palazzos have courtyards inspired by ancient Roman peristyles? These open-air spaces were often the heart of the palazzo, with the center open to the sky and usually featuring a sculpture or fountain as a focal point! 🌿🏛️

It’s a beautiful blend of history and architecture—just one of the treasures you’ll discover on our tours! ✨

Ciao from Lago d’Orta! This summer I took a little break from guiding in Florence and organizing itineraries to explore the charming town of Orta San Giulio. This hidden gem is pure magic—quaint streets, lake views, and endless gelato! 🍦✨

I totally enjoyed soaking in all the peaceful atmosphere, and strongly encourage guests to go off the beaten trails to find more like this lake. 🌿

✨ 𝑺𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒄𝒌 𝒊𝒏 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 – one of the perks of the job!

Today, I’m admiring the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors inside Palazzo Medici Riccardi. This stunning Baroque masterpiece was created in the late 17th century by the talented Neapolitan painter Luca Giordano. The "wow" factor? That ceiling, featuring the Apotheosis of the Medici Dynasty! 👑🎨

Lucca is always a charmer! 🌟 The view from the terrace of the Cathedral Museum is breathtaking.

There’s so much to explore in Lucca during the fall:
🍂 Walk or ride a bike on the ancient walls and soak in the autumn colors
👜 Stroll through shops and bottegas for the latest Fall Fashion (I always love the shoe stores)
🏛️ Discover the archaeological wonders of S. Giovanni & Reparata
🏰 Climb to the top of Lucca’s many towers for incredible views

And don't miss:
🍹 Aperitivo in Piazza dell'Amphiteatro
🍽️ Dinner at cozy restaurants tucked away on quiet side streets
🎶 Puccini arias and duets in a deconsecrated church

😇 These types of comments really brighten up my day, I love knowing that all the preparation and hard work behind the scenes, really makes a difference for my guests.

This was a fantastic walking tour of Florence. It was exactly what we were looking for! Elizabeth was informative and fun, and she made our time in Florence so much better by explaining all of the amazing history surrounding us. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others. I highly recommend!

Road trip to the Lake Region in Northern Italy.

First stop: Isola Madre- where you will find a delightful garden with colorful peacocks and pools of waterlilies and lotus flowers.

Garden lovers will enjoy learning that the area of Isola Madre is unique for its rare plant species from all over the world 🌍🌎🌏 and has been part of the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society since 2002.

Fun note: We can document people living on this island as far back as September 22, 846!

Just one of my favorite perks about scoping out new locations. 😅

Laura and I were invited to a new restaurant recently, and couldn't wait to show off these carefully plated dishes- soufflé with beet and pecorino sauce and a chestnut dessert.

Sounds like some strange flavors combined? They were, and they were delicious!!

What a crazy group of guests!

But we had a blast exploring the backroads and legendary spots of Florence (even if it was a blistering hot day.🥵)

Having the right travel assistance means knowing how to handle extreme weather conditions and still have a memorable holiday (for all the right reasons😎).

We wanted to create a special experience for our guest Jane - and by the smile on her face I think you can guess we came through with flying colors.

A special evening meal was enjoyed in the Chianti countryside--- in a private home with a lovely sunset. Thanks to Villa Santa Maria we found the perfect terrace, menu, and day.

Taking the road less traveled is part of our mission statement, helping guests find joy in the unexpected while experiencing the many landscapes of Italy.

I have been helping guests navigate Italy and its many wonders for over 20 years, from finding the perfect accommodations to arranging drivers to booking tickets - but my favorite part is helping them realize their dreams while visiting Italy.

The sandwich craze has arrived to Italy- with so many popular 'social media' spots that sometimes you can't even walk down the street where these little shops are located and there are vested 'food guards' to keep the peace and ask you to stay in line and not to sit on the sidewalk.
However, who can resist the Tuscan salty flat bread commonly known as "schiacciata"?
Depending on your mood, it can be filled with just a few high quality ingredients or it can also get very exotic and gourmet.
I remember when Alessandro was little, the bakeries would gift him a small slice of this bread as a mid-morning or afternoon snack.
Buonissimo.

I swear it is no exaggeration, the Tower of Pisa really leans this much!

This is just one of those loveable, fun facts about Italy. Can you imagine, the tower leans at an angle of 3.99 degrees BUT it reached the peak of its lean in 1990 at 5.5 degrees when there were fears it would collapse😱

Maybe you should be making plans to visit sooner, rather than later🧐

Do you know where we are?

I loved the way the Campanile di San Martino (Lucca) just seems to meld into the skyline. This 60-meter tall (that would be 217 steps) bell tower will always stand out in a crowd. What's even more fascinating are its first three levels made of Guamo stone, while the last two levels are in white San Giuliano limestone, making it visible even from a distance.

- lit up for the summer!

Sorrento is a coastal town in southwestern Italy, facing the Bay of Naples and it offers many spectacular things to see and do. A few of my favorites are:

Corso Italia - stroll the shops and boutiques.
Villa Comunale - get some great views of Bay of Naples and Vesuvio
Cloister of San Francesco - visit a Medieval cloister dating from the 1300's.
Basilica di Sant'Antonino - dedicated to the city's patron saint
Piazza Tasso - stop for a perfect for an aperitivo and people-watching

Have you been to Sorento?
