I never want the last leg of the trip home to overshadow any part of an amazing adventure! I spent today helping my client with a snag in what has been such a fun trip! Due to technology, Orlando weather grounding planes and staff in Florida, etc., her flight (and many others) was cancelled yesterday. She spent the night in a Baltimore hotel not knowing when she would make it home. As soon as I learned of this I got on the phone. I wasn’t the only one! I was in queue for hours! While she waited in her hotel room, I spent the day dealing with the stressful stuff. I called and learned what her vacation protection benefits included and how to go about filing a claim. I also determined if they would accept receipts for gas if she got someone to drive to get her if flights couldn’t be found in time for her daughters specialist appointment Tuesday. Southwest Vacations worked some magic for me and found her a flight sooner than they had at the airport. She will make it home in time for the appointment! She will be reimbursed for the hotel and meals for the extra time in Baltimore. This is why I am her Travel Agent. She could keep her daughter calm. She could rest while I navigated 800 and hold queues. I cannot guarantee I will always “save the day”, but I will always use this story to recommend Travel Protection Insurance to my clients. I don’t want my clients to have something like this to ever make them forget the memories they made with their families.

Great tip from a fellow TA! I also add on that you should leave a complete itinerary with someone at home! If you make changes message them through some means that is doable, either text if your cell phone plan allows or messenger or some sort of social media. Keep them aware of your location. For the most part traveling IS safe, but for the outlier times when it isn’t you need someone to be able to show proof they knew where you were at some point. Think Gaby Petito, Natalie Holloway, etc.

So far I am impressed with La Quinta Inn Savannah Southside. My client was having some difficulty at the airport with the rental car so I called ahead to get the rollaway ready for her 9 year old very sleepy kid. They had an available room with 2 doubles and upgraded at no charge! Travel day complete! Have so much fun in Savannah!

As my first client packs for her week-long spring break trip with her daughter in beautiful Savannah, I want to post my appreciation for packing cubes. I discovered these watching my cruising YouTubers and fell in love with them on my last cruise. They help you fit SO much into your suitcase (especially if you practice folding like Marie Kondo) and if you fold with a contraption you get very few wrinkles! I left our unders and Sox in the cubes for the week and we just folded what was still clean into one cube and stuffed the dirties around it into the case and everything was still separate for laundry at home! Unpacking became a breeze. I am not an Amazon affiliate so no specific link (comment below if you think I should become one and recommend 😉) but you can find these most places you by travel/packing items.
