Got some fall pics today. Almost missed them entirely since we’ve only had about 10 days of fall, collectively, here in Oklahoma. When I was growing up, the fall seemed to be just as long as any other season. Now though, fall is my favorite season and I nearly miss it every year because it starts as quick as it ends! I would like it to last at least 2 months! Nonetheless, this is what I captured today. They aren’t the best, but they’re what I was able to capture today. I hope you enjoy them.

More Colorado pics. I just couldn’t stop taking pics. Everything was so beautiful there. These are in Durango in the back yard of the cabin we stayed in, the town of Ouray, and some from a train ride. The back yard views are part and of the Rockies. Everything looks like a postcard! Loved that trip so much!

I believe this was on our way back to Durango from visiting Ouray. If you have never seen the Rockies in person, you just have to go! I just couldn’t get enough of it!
(FYI:In parts of this video I turned my phone sideways to get a wider angle. If you lay your phone down flat, you can reposition so you can see it right side up.)

If you haven’t been to this park and nature center in Broken Arrow, OK, you are missing out! Definitely take the family and if you have kids, they did have a bird watching thing posted on the bulletin board that would be a good science project for the kids.

This 40-acre park is filled with walking and jogging trails, a suspension bridge, flowering gardens, and picturesque scenery.

Enjoyed more seafood at The Mighty Crab in Conway. It was delectable! Excellent service from Bella there. I had to catch more sunsets on the way home as we made our way along I40. These were between Lake Dardanelle area and Clarksville, AR.

Dinner at Capt’n Snappers Marina Bar and Grill was so good! The first plate was a pound of blue crab claws and the second was the seafood platter. The service was fantastic and so was the food.

We went to Honor Heights Park in Muskogee to see the azaleas in bloom! Bonus! We also got to see lots of tulips and other flowers in the park. The tulips are next to the Butterfly Papilion in the park. I can’t wait to see that when it reopens in May. I really enjoyed seeing the monarch’s at the Tulsa Fair a few years ago. It was awesome to see them so close!

These were some places we enjoyed over our Anniversary this past weekend in OK City. It was a wonderful short getaway- about 2 hours away from us. I had to see the lighthouse on Hefner Lake in the city. What I didn’t take into account is that the sunrise faces the lighthouse- not the other way around! 🤦‍♀️ Oh well. Next time I’ll get it at sunset- which will be amazing- I’m sure. We also went to Scissortail Park and enjoyed walking around it. They have a small dog park there. We don’t have any dogs right now, but we enjoy other people’s dogs and get our dog fix that way. (No mess and no dog sitters needed when we go somewhere.) I wanted to rent a paddle boat for the lake but the boathouse was closed. Maybe because it was cold, but I thought paddling would have warmed us up. I didn’t see a posted reason why they were closed. I didn’t see a reason at The Perch either. I think they handle the rentals and concessions. Maybe when the flowers are in bloom if we go back there, we can try again. I meant to bring bread for the ducks, but I forgot.

I couldn’t believe how much the Devon Energy Tower dwarfed all the buildings around it in the skyline. So crazy that we have a building of similar stature in Tulsa. I read there’s 50 floors in the Devon Tower. I looked extensively for info on the willow bird sculpture in the park. It’s pretty cute actually with a place to sit inside but I didn’t see the keep off the grass sign laying in the grass until I stood on the grass to get a better pic of the nesting bird, first. Oops. Next time, we will go at night so I can capture the lights on the Scissortail pedestrian bridge.

We also went to see the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum but I didn’t get to take any pics due to a shortage of time. A person could spend all day there with the interactive accounts of those that were there that day.

I remember where I was when I heard about it, April 19, 1995. I was speaking with someone on the phone that was a few blocks from the explosion just minutes after it happened. We had a nurse, Rebecca Anderson, from the Fort Smith area that was injured in the rescue efforts. She was hospitalized and died as a result of her injury. It felt very local, even though we were about 3 hours away, then. Next time we visit, we will make a day of just the museum and memorial.

We were also able to go to the Red Piano Bar at the Skirvin Hotel. We might stay at the Skirvin next time so we can spend more time listening to the piano. My husband really enjoyed the music, too. They were just starting to get more lively by the time we had to head back to our hotel. The loaded fries there were Amazing! So good/ BAD for you. Go on a cheat night, for sure! I took a pic of those— too!

The sky was really pretty when we drove to Robbers Cave State Park in Wilburton, OK last fall. I love to catch the fall 🍂. I usually miss them because they peak during the week and I can’t manage to go, but this time, it was on a Sunday. You don’t have to go too far to revel in the landscape and still be home by dark. I want to day trip to all the surrounding state parks. Where’s your favorite state park and why?

Some pics I took on a camping weekend at Bernice Area at Grand Lake. We picked a perfect spot and there weren’t too many people too close. Pretty sure those are all cranes. I wish they would have let me get closer! I guess they are digging the social distance.

This was our anniversary trip to FL and the Bahamas in 2019. Our GPS took us about an hour or more away from our hotel one afternoon. We weren’t the only ones that happened to- something about that address on Google maps and Siri. The guitar shaped casino hotel in Hollywood, FL was something we wouldn’t have seen, otherwise. The pier was in Ft Lauderdale. The palm trees on the beach were in the Bahamas at a resort. If we take another cruise, at some point, it will probably be Carnival or Royal Caribbean. The lizards were everywhere on the rocks at our hotel. We even saw a HUGE iguana crossing a parking lot in Ft Lauderdale. That was pretty exciting to see that close and free to roam!

This was a camping trip we took to Natural Falls state park in Colcord, OK. It’s actually really close to Siloam Springs, AR. We had a great time camping with some good friends and our dog S’more. She thoroughly enjoyed all the love pats and attention she got from everyone. She was so well behaved on that trip. Good memories of her there.
