For many years now, Norway has made excellent use of hydropower, which now covers 60% of the country's energy production, making it the largest hydropower producer in all of Europe! 🌊💧

Norway also promotes "travelling like a local" with its extensive and accessible public transport system made up of trains, buses, and ferries 🚊🚎

Over the Christmas holidays, it's expected that around 225,000 passengers will fly, from the UK alone! 😱 🛫

With popular destinations being around the Alps in Southern Europe, this could lead to around 51,750kgs of CO2 being produced 😖 (an average estimate calculated from 225,000 people taking a return flight from London to Geneva)

But...if those same passengers were all to opt for coach or train travel, that amount could be reduced by up to 90% which would generate just 5,175kgs of CO2 by comparison! 🚎

Ecotels.org is finally up! We're proud to announce the initial version of our booking system 🙌🏼

Whilst we've got so many goals at Ecotels - to change travel for the better - this is where the journey is starting.

Currently, our booking occurs through Booking dot com. After finding a hotel through our site, viewing photos and reading what it has to offer (with an environmental focus on all details of the hotel, something which booking dot com will never provide!), you can then click through to book 😀

We will then receive a commission for the booking, which we'll collect each month and donate a portion back to sustainable causes. ♻️

We're excited for you to test and try our new system, helping us to progress and improve it as we go along! 😎
