Many special things happening at the Sand Stage which is right outside the Enga Gallery at the Woodford Folk Festival. Our Sulli-Mulli Cultural Group also showcased rituals, such as the courtship ritual and at the end of every session the audience joins in to bounce. We call it the waipa and it’s so much fun!

Heads turn and the cameras come out, when the Silli-Mulli Cultural Group hit the streets of Woodfordia, moving through the Woodford Folk Festival every day, with their chants and drum beats.

For a group of people who have never left their remote district before, let alone travelled on a plane, it’s wonderful to see that they are so at ease in this crowd. Woodfordians are eager to know about us and we are eager to share.

We had a few VIP visitors the to the Sand Stage and Enga Gallery on Day Two of the Woodford Folk Festival, which added an extra touch of excitement to the vibe.

Woodfordia’s Managing Director & Co-Founder Amanda Jackes, accompanied Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, who came to show support to the Silli-Mulli Cultural Group. Also joining them, the PNG Consul-General Reatau Rau and Mrs Susan Rau.

There were smiles all around!

Woodfordia and Enga Provincial Government have an MOU that spans culture, tourism, agriculture, agro-forestry and grass-roots economic development.

Our participation in the festival is definite is part of this. Connecting Our Communities Through Culture and Friendship.

The Bilum Weaving workshops at the Enga Gallery have been so popular, we ran out of materials on Day 3. And even after rescheduling the time so Florence Jaukae Kamel - Bilum Fibre Artist could rush off and re-stock, people still turned up - to learn, to watch and to develop a deeper appreciation for the skill and time it takes to craft our famous bilum bags.

These two teamed up to make a finished product.😍

The Woodford Folk Festival is full to the brim with the most lovely people. We are truly Connecting Our Communities Through Culture and Friendship.

From Day One, we have felt right at home at the Woodford Folk Festival.

The Enga Gallery is where you will find us, where we have been warmly hosted by the Jinibara people. As the Papa Graun, they have shared their Sand Stage with the Silli-Mulli Cultural Group, who are representing Enga Province and Papua New Guinea. They have been performing here every day of the festival.

Our mission is “Connecting Our Communities Through Culture and Friendship” and right from the start with a 9am bilum work shop lead by Florence Jaukae Kamel - Bilum Fibre Artist

The Enga Gallery displays Engan sandpaintings and products by the Enga Ende Anda Women’s Association including spices, honey, bilums and meri blouse.

Thank you Woodfordians. We are so happy to be here.

We're so lucky to have the legendary Florence Jaukae Kamel - Bilum Fibre Artist as part of our cultural delegation who will be going to Woodford Folk Festival.

Thank you Florence for the work you have been doing with our Enga Ende Anda Women's Association and sharing your skills and knowledge to help us reach new markets.

I will be joining the Enga Ende Anda Women Association to travel to Brisbane for the Woodford Folk festival. I have been working/Training Bilum Weavers in Enga, a program funded by UNDP and Enga Provincial Goverment. Specific target: Product Quality and Market. Heading Woodford for the Folk Festival is to make connections, find Markets and show/perform what Enga Women and PNG as a whole can produce. The Silimuli performers will be there to perform. Wantoks in Brisbane, if you're around and want to join us, please come along. We want Wantoks to come join us.
