Putting a stake in the ground (literally!) Exciting times ahead for as we expand by adding to our paddock. This beautifully converted 1930’s railway carriage has been lovingly restored and transformed into luxury accommodation. The Hide will be nestled amongst trees 🌳 providing the ultimate country retreat for you to switch off and unwind 😌 This is just one of the exciting changes ahead for 2024 (more to come on this … 👀). p.s. Archie provided great assistance with this process by continuously dropping his ball and demanding for it to be thrown 🐶 😂

Well that’s a wrap on 2023!! 🥂 Yesterday we had our last guests of the year stay to see in the New Year. As I reflect on our first year of running it’s been epic 🎉 It’s been hard work but so rewarding and I have loved creating unique and luxurious experiences for all our wonderful guests. Thank you to all our guests, and friends and family who have supported us during 2023 ❤️ In 2024 we start the next phase in our journey as we establish “Rutland Hideaways” … watch this space! ☺️ 2024 we are ready for you!!!! 😛

Preparing for our weekend guests who are bringing their furry friends and were looking for recommendations for local walks.

Luckily the beauty of where we live is the abundance and variety of local walks (and I should know, my two spaniels have tried and tested them, along with their cousin Max )🐶🐶

provide excellent options across all three volumes (yes, I have all three) and they are great for guests who are new to the area as provide essential information on where to park, distance & time some highlights (often a local pub thrown in there) and the “pooch perspective”

Hopefully the weather improves before the weekend ☔️ so our guests can see Rutland in all its Autumn glory! 🍂 🍂

I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, for all good reason that we have been SO busy hosting our lovely guests 🐮

Balancing working full time, running and also balancing everything else in life is sometimes stressful, but reviews like this one make it so worthwhile ❤️

“It’s all the thoughtful little touches that makes it feel special”

We receive lots of feedback on the little touches, whether it’s the personalised welcome card, fresh milk in the fridge or a bag of locally produced doggy treats for our four-legged guests 🐶

What’s even better, this is my favourite part of running ❤️

July has been a busy month ! 🐮

77% occupancy for the whole month (and we’re not even at the end of the month yet 😳).

We have no weekend availability (Fri or Sat) for the month of August - the next available weekend date is Saturday 9th September .. so book up quick if you want to see for yourself what our lovely guests have been talking about 😍

Pop along to the shop in Castle Bytham to see it, and treat yourself to a coffee ☕️ and cake 🍰 from the cafe (or if you’re feeling really naughty like me a bacon roll 🥓!!). The shop also stocks fresh fruit and vegetables, meat from and all your essentials for your stay 🐮

Hey 👋🏻

I had an appointment in Oakham today so I took the opportunity to pick up lunch from the lovely

I’ve been in here before, but today I didn’t have time to sit and savour the atmosphere so I opted for a takeaway salad box - Hot smoked salmon on top of mixed leaves, cucumber, tomatoes, homemade coleslaw & olive. It was delicious 🤤 (thank you for the recommendation!)

A great spot to visit to either sit or takeaway for some fab food 👍🏻

our ethos is shop local to support local businesses in Rutland and the surrounding Lincolnshire area 🛒 🛍️

As a dog friendly retreat, we always provide a dog water bowl and bag of treats for our furry friends 🐶 So when I heard about I got in touch with Carole to see whether we could partner up with them. Carole kindly sent my own furry friends a selection of their healthy, handmade treats from their bespoke bakery to check that they got the paws up approval from them. The votes are in …. 🗳️

…. and it was an unanimous two paws vote from both them!! 🐾 🐾

The Cow Shed has it's own garden space. You can use this to walk your furry friends around, or simply sit on the bench and enjoy the stretching views of the countryside.

There is nothing we enjoy better than taking a stroll around the paddock - and we are happy to share this space with our guests and their furry friends 🐶

Supporting local businesses is a passion of ours, being a small, local business ourselves! Which is why I volunteered my time a few hours a week to support our not-for-profit village community shop (i have my own apron too, clearly a perk of the job 😊) For visiting guests to @the_cow_shed_ the @bythamscommunityshop is an ideal spot for a coffee, bacon/sausage roll or go all in with a full English breakfast or pick up some meat for the BBQ!
