Hi All,
Please see below the final entry list for the East Midlands Divisional Masters, Juniors and Novices Powerlifting Championships being held at the Yardley Gobion Powerlifting Club on 18th August.
As the closing date is upon us no further changes in bodyweight class entered can be accepted.
The first weigh in is from 8.30-10.00 with the lifting commencing at 10.30am. This weigh in is for all female lifters and for male lifters up to and including the 83kg class.
The lifters will be split into an A and B group with the A group warming up on squats first and commencing lifting at 10.30am. The B group then warming up whilst the A group complete their 3 squat attempts during which time the B group will warm up on their bench press and so on. The A group currently will be all ladies up to and including the 72kg class with the B group being the rest of the female lifters and the men up to and including the 83kg class. (Don't worry novices all will be clearly explained on the day).
The second weigh in for all remaining male lifters is from12.00 - 13.30 with lifting anticipated to commence around 14.00 depending on progress of the morning session.
Again there will be an A and B group with the A group being all men in the 93kg class and the B group being all the remaining male weight classes. The same procedure on lifting and warming up will apply as in the earlier groups.
As there are 26 Novice lifters there will be pre- competition briefings for all novices to ensure that everyone understands the format, basic commands and rules to hopefully ensure everyone gets the best result they can on the day. Can you also please note that only one coach per lifter maximum is allowed in the warm up room to avoid conjestion.
Spectators are welcome with a small entrance fee of £3 to cover hall costs and there will be tea, coffee, cold drinks and filled rolls available on the day.
Medals will be awarded for the first 3 positions in each bodyweight class (according to age/classification) and certificates awarded to all lifters.
The full venue address is on the entry form and directional signs will be positioned locally to help find the Recreation Centre in Yardley Gobion.
I look forward to seeing everyone and to a great competition.
Kind regards
Steve Walker

East Midlands Masters, Juniors & Novices Powerlifting Championships 18/8/18, Yardley Gobion Powerlifting Club, Northamptonshire
General guidance pre-entry notes for lifters
All potential entrants please note :-
1. To compete, you must be a paid up member of British Powerlifting and be registered as an East Midlands lifter (this will be determined by your address when you apply for membership via the British Powerlifting website – link as follows- https://www.britishpowerlifting.org The event will be capped at 50 lifters and priority will be given to East Midlands lifters so it is unlikely that we will be able to accept any “guest” lifter entries from other divisions. Please ensure you apply for your British Powerlifting membership well before the competition entry form goes online (around 1st June) so you have your membership number available with your entry to the event.
2. The competition is open to Junior lifters (see age groups on the Technical rules section of the International Powerlifting Fedferation (IPF) website), Masters lifters (40+) and novice lifters (never competed in a powerlifting competition before). The competition is not open to senior lifters unless you are a novice lifter. Link to the IPF technical rules below.
http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/fileadmin/ipf/data/rules/technical-rules/english/IPF_Technical_Rules_Book_2016__1_.pdf
3. The competition is designated as a “Classic” event i.e. not “equipped”. To see the guidelines on approved equipment and attire for Classic and equipped events please refer to the IPF approved list as per link
http://www.powerlifting-ipf.com/fileadmin/ipf/data/rules/approved-list/NEW_IPF_Approved_List_04-01-2018.pdf
4. The competition will be run under all IPF rules therefore any totals achieved will be recognised for qualifying purpose for other British Powerlifting events (subject to entry closing dates etc which you will need to check with that competition organiser – not me).
5. Novice lifters please note that I cannot provide advice on your training schedules or what you think you should be attempting on the day – this must come from your coaches or fellow lifters if possible. It is worth bearing in mind that as it’s your first competition that opening attempts on all 3 lifts should be a relatively easy weight for you i.e. something you can probably rep 3 times in training in strict style within the rules to give you every chance of getting it passed. You’ll have two more attempts to go higher after your opener.
6. There will be a briefing session for all novice lifters before the competition starts on the day to provide tips, help and advice to ensure everyone knows the rules and procedure although the onus is on you to have read the reasons for failure of each of the 3 lifts again available in the IPF technical rules (link as above).
7. Finally, the entry form which will go on the East Midlands Powerlifting website on 1/6/18 will contain all the information about the venue address, the weigh in and lifting start times for all male and female bodyweight groups.
Regards
Steve Walker
