Tamara was beyond excited for her family vacation and her first trip with baby Gabriel. As she packed her bags, she started to wonder what she could bring onboard the flight for Gabriel. Here are some of the most common questions travellers with children ask before heading to the airport:
How much liquid formula, breastmilk and water can I bring for my baby?
If your infant is younger than 2 years (0-24 months), you can bring all of baby’s essentials such as: baby food, milk, liquid formula and water in any quantity.
Once you get to the security screening checkpoint you will need to present these items to the screening officer for inspection. Be sure to pack these items in an easily accessible spot in your carry-on.
What if my baby is over 2 years old?
If your infant is 25 months or older, you will need to ensure each item is less than 100ml and fits into a clear, 1L resealable bag.
Can I fly with powdered formula?
Certain powders and granular materials (e.g. baby powder, some formula) are limited to a total quantity of 350 ml or less, which is roughly the size of a soda can. To save time at the checkpoint we recommend avoiding metal-lined containers for formula, bringing pre-prepared bottles, when possible, and placing larger amounts of powdered formula in your checked baggage.
What are some good in-flight snacks for kids?
Solid foods such as fruits, sandwiches, cookies and crackers all make great in-flight snacks.
: If you are travelling outside of Canada; any food in your carry-on or checked baggage is subject to the regulations of the country you are visiting.
