This is SO true for us. We didn't want a dog, but we needed one. Every day I am so grateful for that random day we decided "fostering a dog for the holidays could be fun for the kids..." and here we are.⁠

A very special indeed!

I ran down to the beach before heading to the airport to take one more photo of these absolutely *stunning* medals. I had such a wonderful time, and can't wait to convince you to come run with me next year.

It was truly an honor to be a part of this weekend - from the initial planning stages of the race, to holding our breath hoping we wouldn't be facing another race cancellation. I loved seeing it all come together!!

It has been almost a year since I have run an in-person half marathon and I really forgot what a big deal it is. The course was absolutely beautiful, but I *StRuGgLeD* towards the end. You know, the normal "I hate running this is stupid why do people do this I quit" type of attitude. So, next year, come out and run with me. I promise that last hill isn't too bad.
... I may be lying it's pretty terrible.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL!! I know you have been biting your nails just waiting for more information about the meetup for Wine & Dine...

When!? Friday night-ish! We're going to meet early, 4:30 PM, in order to have some time to visit with each other before any advanced dining reservations already in place. Also, should not interfere with an early bedtime for those 10K runners Saturday morning!

Where!? We are meeting at the food truck park in Disney Springs!! It's a great central location and you don't need a park pass to get in.

Bring yourself, your friends, your family... come by and say hi! I'll be there... so will my kids... so will my husband....... and probably my parents too! EVERYONE is welcome! Come for a minute and take some selfies, OR come at 4:30 and stay till they kick us out...

I am SO EXCITED. I can't wait to see you there.

While we're on the topic of races coming back... I'm *DYING* for news. Those races were so much fun and I really want to do them again...

2020 I didn't *love* the themes, but with all of the incredible IP Universal has to work with... what race theme do you want to see in those parks??

OBVIOUSLY Harry Potter, that's a given. Sponge Bob could be cool... Jurassic Park... Minions... Dr Seuss!!! I mean the possibilities are endless.

Happy National Dog Day! Jovie, we love you!

To be completely honest I didn't think I'd ever have a dog again... but here we are.

If you don't know the story - we decided to foster a dog for the holidays last year... and we very quickly became foster failures. Santa delivered a note on Christmas Morning that she was officially our dog, and she's the perfect addition to our family!

She loves to go running with me for about a quarter mile, and then she's done. She can find a pill in any creative way you try to sneak one. She snores louder than my husband, and her main goal in life is to protect the girls.

She's 65 pounds of muscle and bones and is the most awkward and uncomfortable cuddler ever... but I love it.

I know you know I am dealing with the worlds worst feet right now. I took some time off, got new shoes, have been stretching like you wouldn't BELIEVE... but still having issues.

The good news is I can tell it's getting better every day... but it's not gone and I'm not healing as fast as I'd like. I thought I'd share 10 tips I found and what I'm doing, so you can either tell me I am wrong or add to the list...

👣 Ice the affected area (so freaking cold)⁠
👣 Supportive footwear (I can't remember the last time I wore cute shoes)⁠
👣 Anti-inflammatory meds (oooonly when it's *really* bad)⁠
👣 Shoe inserts (I haven't gotten any yet. I tried a few at the store but they didn't feel right, I'm still searching...)⁠
👣 Rethink your routine (I've been resting more than usual, and changed my plan for one with lower mileage)⁠
👣 Stretching (I've been stretching before and after every run, and got this cool foot stretcher thing too...)
👣 Nix barefoot walking (done and done)⁠
👣 See a professional (........ on the list but hoping I can avoid this one)⁠
👣 Be patient (UGH)⁠
👣 Know that plantar fasciitis might recur (DOUBLE UGH)⁠

So what say you, internet doctors of Instagram?! Give me all the tips!!!!!

I am having SO MUCH FUN with the challenge! Our team *WHATS MY PACE AGAIN* is giving me LIFE - it's exactly what I didn't know I needed. Funny how that works, isn't it?!

GPS watches, headphones, shoes, visors, glasses, motivating accessories, and skirts... there are SO many favorites when it comes to my running gear. I still giggle when I think of running as a "simple, not expensive sport" - HA!!

So I figured I'd make a little list of my go-to favorites:

⌚ GPS Watch - Garmin Forerunner 245 - really any garmin but this one does the trick for me!
🎶 Headphones - I have one pair of aftershokz I'll wear occasionally, but I usually stick to cheap bluetooth.
👟 Shoes - I'm a Brooks Ghost girl through and through, however am planning on going to get refitted soon...
🏃‍♀️ Visors - Sparkle Athletic Headsweats. Always.
👓 Glasses - Goodr! I drank the kool-aid. Give me all the Goodrs.
✨ Accessories - dude you know I am all about Momentum.
👗 Skirts - I am currently *obsessed* with all things but you know I also love my !

Oh man, where do I begin? I was so tickled to be included in this celebration! Such huge congratulations to and - I hope your day was absolutely magical and wish you all the best in your life together as a married couple!

I was finally able to meet and squeeze some of my most favorite internet friends, as well as some friends I haven't seen in a very long time, and honestly can't wait to do it again. Even though that was one of the hottest and most humid 5Ks I have ever run... it is easily on the top of my list. Talk about a core memory morning...

This community is truly amazing and inspiring and full of so much love. I am so very grateful for these friendships and can't wait to see where life takes Stephanie and Kevin!

*Out of Office*

I'll be the first to admit I haven't been as active over here recently and I miss it!! When things get super busy, I start to feel like I'm failing juuuust a little bit at pretty much everything. I mean, I know I'm holding it together. I know I'm doing okay. Food is on the table, kids are safe, husband is supported, business is moving forward, training is happening... but it just doesn't feel like anything is what it could be.

This weekend I'm taking the idiom "a rising tide lifts all boats" and focusing on one aspect of my life that is the most important in the hopes I come home with a better outlook and everything else rises a bit. And *that* would be my kickass family. We're escaping (again) to our happy place to swim, snack, and catch those firework shows before they're gone forever.

Plus, I am going to get to see some internet friends and celebrate some big things with the runDisney IG community... and that is icing on the cake!

It was truly an honor to have been given the opportunity to take my family to the SpringHill Suites / Courtyard Marriott in Amelia Island for a little staycation this past weekend! The room was wonderful, the food was delicious, the pool was perfect… and even getting rained out on the beach was a blast. This little corner of Florida has officially moved its way to the top of our “favorite places” list!!

We are thrilled that the resort is our host resort for the Amelia Island race this October. It’s SO close to everything, and the entire time I was there I kept picturing our runners hanging out and relaxing… it’s going to be the BEST weekend!!

I’m 99% sure I’m going to try to squeeze in another weekend between now and then… and I don’t think the family will have any complaints about that!

As a reminder, ZOOMA Amelia Island is open for registration!! And - we have a killer rate for this resort for our runners. I am so grateful for your support and can’t wait to run with you in October!!

Update on all that jazz - I'm fairly certain the foot pain was tied into some other lame health stuff I was avoiding addressing. That health stuff has been addressed, and my feet are already showing signs of improvement!

My left heel is still a little spicy... and I have decided 0 running until it's 100%. Like my story yesterday said, recover like an athlete.

Hydraaaaation!!

I never used to take this seriously because I was young and dumb but boy oh boy is it important. Especially training for a marathon in the Florida SUMMER!

How do you stay hydrated with your workouts, run, walk, hike, yoga session, playing with your kids, etc... What's your favorite hydration mix or is it straight water? I want to know!

I want to see your favorite action shot... this one is mine! I thought it was fitting to post my 10K PR from Wine & Dine a few years ago - it was unexpected and *thrilling* ..... and seriously did I finish in the DARK!?

I'm in for all the races this year and could not be more excited. Although I think I am MOST excited for the 5K - Evelyn will be running with me and we have an epic costume in the works... any guesses?!?!

It's WINE & DINE REGISTRATION DAY!

I'm nervous so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. It sucks that I couldn't get any race registrations guaranteed in advance. It sucks that a lot of charities were not allocated any race registrations. It sucks we're all worried about getting into the races that we want... but... we wanted the races to be back no matter what and they're back.

The registration process has changed for us all and if that's one of the changes that they needed to make in order to bring these races back in person... then so be it! Let's go run!

A few tips/tricks... ⁠
⭐ make sure your runDisney account is up to date⁠ and you’re logged in
⭐ links will probably go live a little before 10⁠
⭐ DON'T REFRESH⁠
⭐️ have your cc number typed out in another document so you can copy and paste
⭐ skip additional merch and POT (you can go back and do that later)⁠

I asked yesterday what you thought would sell out first... the overwhelming majority was 5K! Which of course is the one I need. A decent chunk of you are betting on the challenge, honestly anything can happen at this point!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

Earlier this year, Brandon's grandfather passed away and we decided to wait until this summer to get together to celebrate his life. This 4th, we are finally here with family and friends celebrating the most charming and unique man I have ever known. Gene was incredibly social and I cannot think of a better way to honor him than a week long party.

It has been so wonderful seeing family we don't get to see enough, and doing things we don't get to usually do. AND I'll tell you what - this teeny tiny Iowa town put on one hell of a fireworks show last night!

So here is to friends, family, freedom, and Gene Bergman. I am so grateful to have joined such a wonderful family... hashtag blessed, y'all.

I don't have words.

The outpouring of love and support I have received in the past 48 hours has me in a state of disbelief. During the pandemic while we were canceling all of our plans, I was so grateful. I already knew this community was wonderful... but... y'all...

I am amazed and so humbled. You are truly the best.

I'll be completely honest with you - I had a gut feeling that there would be major changes when it comes to travel agents and the ability to book race packages... and I was right. I am so relieved that I set those expectations early and was as honest and as transparent as I could be. Thank you, for sticking with me, and understanding the "unknown" that we were in.

This is wild, and now again I can use that fun word "unprecedented".... but HERE WE GO!

I am so excited for the races, I am absolutely thrilled to book your room package (anywhere you want to stay!), and I CAN NOT WAIT TO RUN WITH YOU THIS YEAR!!!!

SO much has changed in the past year it's honestly hard to keep up with. You know how in Inside Out when sadness touches the core memory and it becomes all swirly with the colors and a memory becomes both happy and sad?

That's how I feel about the upcoming runDisney season.

Personally? I'm ready to run. I want to go to the parks and buy the merchandise and hurt my feet and hug my friends and pew pew pew during Princess and cross those finish lines and eat the snack box cheese.

Professionally? I'm terrified. We don't know if they're going to have travel packages - and if they do - they're set up in the system for someone like me to fail. If things don't change, I'll be unable to serve my runners like I have in the past and I'm just devastated thinking about it.

Whatever is going to be announced, whenever it's going to be announced, I have swirly blue and yellow feelings about it... and a little bit of red, too.

We are so honored to celebrate two of our favorite people on their WEDDING DAY! And what a whirlwind it was, it feels like just yesterday when I got the “we have some exciting news…” text, and here we are.

Congratulations to - you two are amazing together and we cannot wait to see what’s next! Whatever it is, I know it’s going to be fun. And weird. And the Bergmans are crashing the party.

!! I'll tell you what - out of all the crazy things that happened over the past year - has been a SOLID foundation for me.

I mean, there's the obvious part about making friends all over the country... but for me, it's the little stuff. It's celebrating the wins, commiserating the losses, running together virtually & more recently running together TOGETHER.

"No one supports you like virtual running friends" - and that couldn't be truer words. Not only do I feel supported in my training, but I am supported with my own small business, I am supported as a mother, as a friend, and as a general human being.

My next big question... WHEN CAN WE DO THIS AGAIN?!

Just kidding. Kind of. I am 99% sure that they're scrolling through social media and every time someone tags them to ask about races, they push back the announcement by 15 minutes. So at this rate we'll know what's up for 2022 by 2032. 🤣⁠

I know we're all impatient but at this point I think no news is good news! They're trying - and Disney's NUMBER ONE priority is safety. I'm confident they're doing everything they can to get us back in the parks and running like idiots again soon.⁠

In the meantime my race schedule is filling up with some incredible races... Cape Cod, Amelia Island, Texas Wine Country (maybe), Bermuda, Savannah... and I'm even thinking about maybe throwing Donna in there for another 26.2..........⁠
