As some of you may know, earlier this year in January we organized a show, which was supposed to have a certain band called CHAMBER OF MALICE play. We had also organized a Balkan minitour for them on top of that date in Sofia, however things turned sour quite severely. Literally just a week before the first date, due to some internal problems in the band, they told us they wouldn't be able to make it at all. Now that stuff happens, but what transpired and their actions afterwards are just pathetic. We had already sent a certain amount of money for their plane tickets in good faith, and got a confirmation from them that they had cancelled the plane tickets and are waiting for a significant amount of it to be refunded in three months time maximum.
Now if you're like some of us, you would take responsibility for your own actions like an adult human being, however that's not the route chamber took. Not even a single word was announced by them, even though they had effectively cancelled 5 goddamn dates. You could also argue that since you've taken money beforehand and are the reason the gigs don't happen, returning that amount or some amount of it would be respectful thing to do, regardless of when and how the airline refunds the tickets. It's also important to note that this happened in the beginning of January, two months before mass lockdowns across Europe amidst the corona virus.
Regardless of your stance on such situations in general, things only went worse from there. With the three months which they themselves quoted passing, we noticed that our messages are being swerved, and we were basically ignored by the high and mighty chamber of cancelled dates. As times are tough at the moment, a simple message at least acknowledging the situation would suffice, however they simply chose to cop out, act a fool and ignore our attempts at communication. Seems that for a band that uses "better have my money when I come to collect" as their intro, they certainly don't practice what they preach, and can't produce an amount of money which they owe. An amount of money which isn't all that big for a group of people to come up with for 5 fu**in months, given that the ball is in their court.
We've already parted with the money in our minds, but perhaps shedding light on this situation will ensure others don't end up being a couple hundred euros short after dealing with that band.
