Tad delayed post🙈but I ran my FIRST EVER 10k last Saturday✅

Yes, I’ve run 13 half-marathons but 10k is now my fav distance😍It’s the best of both worlds because when you get to 3 miles— you’re like—wow, halfway already?! Then you get to 4 and you only got 2 more! Then the pain is kind of there around 5.25-5.5 but BOOM then you’re done!🎉

This was my second runDisney race as Springtime surprise was my first last April and it was my first race postpartum with Nico being 9 months old so it was super fitting this was my first race postpartum with Nash at 8 months old🥹I was also STOKED to be TEN lbs lighter running this race than the 10 miler, it made such a difference!👏🏼

I put my ALL into this training since April so I was able to actually stop for characters and that had me all in my feels🥹Springtime surprise I ran the 10 miler and I was just worried about finishing so I stopped for NOBODY🙈Not this time—I put in the WORK to be able to make the stops👏🏼I told myself I was going to live up to my IG name: chelsearuns”happy” like let’s enjoy ourselves ya know?!

I reserved an Uber Thurs night for 3 AM because I was off property ( no Disney bus for me but I heard horror stories so glad I went that route) and I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to get one morning of. Now was I THRILLED to pay $33 to go to Epcot when I saw the night before rides were going for $12? I guess that’s the cost of ✨anxiety✨My ride was early and I arrived at Epcot at 3:02🙈 While I thought it was overkill, I’m so glad I was early because the wait for Belle and Lumieré was FIFTY minutes🤯Yes, 5-0!! So I stretched, got my bib on and hopped in line!

Weather was FREEZING 🥶at the start like yes coming from the Buffalo girl, I was FROZEN even in the long sleeve but once we got it moving, my shirt didn’t last long😅I had to quickly improvise with my bib while waiting for Pinocchio and careful not to stab myself in the leg with a pin IYKYK🤪I really wanna be a cool kid and get some of those magnets!

Pace wise—Coming out of Epcot I felt like I was FLYING 💨but I was actually going slower than normal and I am glad I was because I was able to save some gas for later when I needed to make up some time! Pretty early on I met a girl while waiting for the Beast and she had a list of characters and she offered I could take a pic so from that point on I could plan for who I wanted to stop for and when I’d be stopping. That was super helpful! I also know now to check Reddit🤪Overall my pace was 11’21” which is about 1 minute slower than training which I attribute to the on and off ramps and bottlenecks I got stuck in🙈

Running down Sunset Blvd in Hollywood Studios and around the world in Epcot is always magical but since I no longer have my annual pass, (gimmie a few paychecks😅) I didn’t take being in the parks for granted🥹I felt like I was breaking all the rules LOL! I love seeing the rides lit up, wouldn’t have minded a ride on Tower of Terror though😉

My least fav part is running from Hollywood to Epcot, it gets so narrow and I HATE the wooden planks on the Boardwalk but those are minimal parts of the race😅I’d also like for everyone to get the memo that if you want to walk, go to the right🙈I support walking but quite a few times I wasn’t able to pass people and I just thought that was common sense if you’re slower by any means to go to the right? Maybe I’m wrong🤪

Outside of the characters, the entertainment on the course was FABULOUS from marching bands to DJs to the Jamminators and the choir😍 they will deff keep ya going!

I’ve never felt more prepared for a race, EVER! I never once felt like I couldn’t do it or that any point in time was it truly challenging—it felt like my usual weekly 6 mile run sprinkled with more fun of course! But the icing on the cake will always be my boys at the finish line💙💙

Next year Mama is comin’ for the two-course challenge, by herself 🤪 (more on that later!) AND I’m staying for the after party at Epcot, having serious FOMO tonight😭

Grandma visited us last month and OF COURSE we squeezed in a visit to Disney Springs☀️

Our visit got me thinking about ⭐️FIVE⭐️ tips I have if you’re planning on visiting Disney Springs🎉

☝🏼Parking is FREE🚗Yes! You heard that right! Unlike the Disney Theme Parks, parking at Disney Springs is free so put that wallet away!👏🏼 (for once🤪) I’d also like to add that the Lime parking garage is my fav! I feel that it’s the most centrally located! I think parking garages are such a PLUS for Disney Springs because honestly getting all the kids and their stroller situated in the blistering sun is not my idea of fun!😅🤣Also if you can, you’ll want to park on the 2nd level of Lime because that’s where the security check is!

✌🏼Reserve your dining. Reserve your dining. Yes, some may have walk up availability BUT if you have your heart set on something (cough, duck duck razz, cough!) you don’t want to leave that to chance! Dining reservations are available 60 days in advance!

3️⃣I personally like to arrive at Disney Springs about 30-45 minutes ahead of time⌚️for our reservation to leave ample time for parking, unloading the boys, packing up the stroller, getting through security etc and taking a leisurely stroll to the restaurant. If you don’t have kids obviously adjust your time accordingly! I would rather be early than sprinting!

4️⃣ A new find for us since having kids is the 💦splash pad! 💦 It’s located right outside “Earl of Sandwich.” We pack our oldest’s trunks and a swim diaper for the occassion—yes, we’ve done it in street clothes too, just bring a change of SOMETHING so they aren’t soaked forever, ha! I can’t promise the water will be refreshing but the kiddos will be entertained!

5️⃣ Last but not least—GIDEON’S😍That’s the tip, just GO! Okay no for real the tip or trick here is if they are operating on a virtual que (it’s not always!) you want to hop in that virtual que line ASAP! You visit the physical line and they’ll ask for your phone # to hold your place in line virtually and they’ll text you when you can return and actually get in line physically. I so wish we would have gotten in the virtual que BEFORE Boathouse on our last visit so that’s my tip for you so you don’t miss out! I could not justify waiting the 2 hours with my 2 boys, they just were ready to go at that point! It’s a bonus if you can plan it where you’re there just in time for 🍪hot cookie hour 🍪(warm cookie + 🍦= 🤤) from 2-3 or 7-8! Follow them on social media for their newest menu items!🤤

‼️Did you know that you can dine at Disney resorts even if you aren’t staying there?! ‼️

Of course you’ll need a reservation (available 60 days out from your trip) for table service but you don’t have to be staying at that resort! I won’t say that I also snagged this reservation the day before🙃

IT IS MY FAV THING TO DO THOUGH👏🏼Especially at the Polynesian😍bucket list is to stay there for even just ONE night, it would be A DREAM!🥹

When my sister was here last week, I surprised her with a trip to ‘Ohana (located upstairs at the Polynesian next to Tambu Lounge) as my niece LOVES Lilo & Stitch and my son loves Mickey! It is a character breakfast and “all you care to eat” which they bring to your table— so TOTALLY worth it in my book! ✅The characters that will visit your table are Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto! I’ll have to share the videos of the kiddos interacting with them in another post (silly FB rules!) because it’s so precious! Note—characters do not come out for dinner at ‘Ohana, they must have an early bedtime!😂

What I LOVE about this age and taking the kids to Disney is that Disney doesn’t charge kids until they are 3 for admission or dining so all 3 kids ate for free and we just paid for 3 adults! 👏🏼 I think it’s super reasonable at $45/person compared to some other character dining options on property!

The food is your generic breakfast but with a Hawaiian twist—more specifically pineapple on the ham🤪and not only do they have Mickey waffles but Stitch waffles too!😍Fun tip is you can also order the “Lapu Lapu” NOT in a pineapple and it’s cheaper!🎉

I give this a 10/10 for experience and the food! My fiancé and I went for the first time not too long after reopening post COVID and I was not impressed so now that things are back to normal, I’m so glad we decided to visit again! I know, I know, I need to try the noodles for dinner next!

🦁🦍🐒ANIMAL KINGDOM RECAP🦁🦍🐒

I started to write this up during naptime and then fell asleep myself because looks like I’m long winded🙃I figured it’d be easier to recap our day with some pros and cons!

Pros—

🚐Parking lot tram is working again! 🎉 This saved our feet and the trek to the main gate from the car at almost noon🥵There is a car locator feature on the My Disney Experience app. I also advise taking picture of the ground/sign for the section where you parked. My anxiety tells me the Disney app could crash or something🤪

🚽Bathrooms are as soon as you walk in either to the right before going through the gate with your tickets or after to the LEFT. I found going once inside the gates was less busy! We got diaper changes done IN THE AC😍 applied sunscreen and got situated after going through security.

🦆There is a water feature/pond as soon as you walk in with ducks, birds and fish. This kept Nico entertained while my fiancé changed Nash and packed up our stuff. Basically a good spot to take littles while others are using the bathroom! Peep the photo where Nico is covering his eyes because the ducks were fighting and he found it hilarious😂

🔐There are also lockers available at the front but we did not use them!

🍗If you have littles, I’d say as soon as you enter the park make a right at the tree of life and head straight to Dinoland USA🦖 Our first stop was actually Restaurantosaurus which is a quick service. We mobile ordered a kid’s meal on the walk over and I press “I’m here” before I actually arrive🤫 Even though we JUST got to the park, Nico needed to eat something besides our car snacks—it was soooo nice to chill in the AC and fuel up before tackling the day. We also split a kid’s meal which is my other fav tip! The kid’s meal came with 4 nuggets, the choice of 2 sides, a drink and a dino book for a little over $11🎉

🦴The Boneyard just reopened from refurbishment last month and I can’t compare because I never saw it before but it was a great playground for Nico to run around! There’s even a feature with dino prints and when you step on them, they RAWR!🦖Nico kept looking for the real dinosaur to come out🥹

🐠Finding Nemo show is another great AC break but also entertaining—Nico couldn’t hang for the entire thing and ended up being naptime.😴 I even sucessfully transferred him into the stroller, kid was so tired!

🏔️BEST PART OF THE DAY—There is a single rider line for Mt. Everest//Expedition Everest that Terry and I both got to ride individually during naptime😍I can’t tell you the last time I was on a rollercoaster! The best part is, the young girl they paired me with, it was hee 20th time—THAT DAY!! She asked me if it was my first time and I was like well “I had 2 babies so first time in a long time” then after she goes, “you sure did scream a lot for it not being your first time”😅WELL WELL WELL🙈

🍹Thirsty River Bar was a HIT!! I’m normally not a frozen marg girlie but ya don’t have to twist my arm with a blue margarita. Specifically the “Avalanche Frozen Blue Margarita”😍My fiancé got the “Khumbu Frozen Icefall” and I was surprised I liked it!

📸I love our PhotoPass pics!! These are included with my Annual Pass but you can also add Memory Maker to any trip for an additional cost but I’ll always say, WORTH IT!

Cons—
👎🏼Only one security lane was open, for both people and strollers, wheelchairs, etc! So everyone was walking through the same metal detector but when a stroller or wheelchair comes up, they hold the line and let those people go through—it was just a lengthy process for NO REASON and usually there are like 3+ lines open—they were also shooing people away from standing in the shade right after security😅

👎🏼When you have kids, I have found you always need to allow for MORE time than you think you have. This could easily be a 2 day park for us—once you factor in feedings, diaper changes, etc! There’s so much I would have liked to do, we just didn’t get to!😭

👎🏼12/10 don’t recommend Triceratop Spin in that heat because you will bake waiting for everyone to load and your 2 year old will throw a tantrum not wanting to ride it while you wait and you’ll be in a wrestling match getting him to stay in your lap and buckled—NEVER AGAIN!!

👎🏼THE HEAT—Not that Disney can control it but even with packing frozen water bottles, frozen washcloths, stroller fan, umbrella—I VOW to not do Disney with the boys from May-October until they are like 10 and 12🤪It’s sooo much work to pack and stuff to cart around plus add the heat, pack your patience and plan your AC spots/breaks accordingly!

👎🏼We had reservations for Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge but driving up the morning of, it’s always tough to get there early enough so on the drive I ended up canceling it😭By the time we ate, it would have been after 1PM getting in the park! We also had Yak & Yeti for 2:45 but changed our minds as I wanted Nico to see Nemo which he ended up sleeping through anyways😅

If we could do it again, I’d drive up the night before but stay TWO days on property—get there early the first day to rope drop the Safari and do The Lion King show and the bird show(s). Take a break mid day when it’s sweltering—go back to the hotel for nap time and then come back around 4 as the park closes at 7! Go back the next day and do Pandora area, hop over to Asia, etc! I also would have liked to be able to see characters like Mickey and Moana but waiting 20+ minutes, just wouldn’t work for us—I was surprised we didn’t see any characters in passing! Also would have liked to take the train over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch for the petting zoo but alas, there’s just not enough hours in the day!

All in all it was a great day and if we didn’t have the gift cards, I wouldn’t have tortured us in the heat😅

Genie+ is a *newish* service on the My Disney Experience app that offers insights into your park day along with the perk of booking Lightning Lanes (replaces Fast Passes) and offering tips!

Now you will be able to purchase Genie+ for multiple parks (if you’re park hopping!) OR one single park on the day of your visit. Pricing goes with crowd demand so it’s not predictable—I always tell my clients, it’s not something I can include in your quote for you👎🏼I will say it is nice you can select WHO in your party will utilize the service so if someone isn’t into rides or wanting to book Lightning Lanes, they don’t need to purchase!

Is Genie+ a MUST DO add on for you during your Disney trip?! Do you think it’s worth it?!

A question I often get asked when putting together a vacation quote for a client—

📸“Is Memory Maker worth it?”📸

I’m an Annual Passholder and once upon a time as an Annual Passholder, your PhotoPass pics were already included with your pass but now they switched it so you have the option to pay extra to keep the PhotoPass feature and I will GLADLY pay it! 👏🏼

Memory Maker is what allows you to go up to a PhotoPass cast member in any park—they will scan your magic band, take your pics, have you strike a pose🕺and your pics get uploaded to the “My Disney Experience” app where you can download them directly from your phone!

Typically when my fiancé and I travel to Disney, it’s just us with the boys without anyone to take pics of us! (Unless family visits of course) and it’s so nice we don’t have to take turns for pics with our boys!😍

Before kids, we enjoyed it for the candid ride photos and all the magical touches they do!✨I also loved having character meet n’ greets captured! It really takes the stress away of having to ask a stranger to take your pictures! And it’s such a fun surprise to see what magical touces they come up with!

🤠HEY HOWDY HO! 🤠

Let’s review RoundUp Rodeo BBQ!🤤

Let me start this off by saying I’m SHOCKED we snagged this reservation THE DAY BEFORE!👏🏼I’ve shared this tip and I’ll share it again, when it comes to booking dining—I have the BEST luck after midnight so DAY OF or super late the night before—I’ve also booked Topolino’s Terrace the MORNING OF! If you’d like me to take booking dining off of your plate for your vacation, I do charge a fee and you’ll be worry free!🎉

Now what ya came here for—RoundUp Rodeo BBQ is located in Hollywood Studios in Toy Story Land and does require a reservation. This meal is an “all you care to eat” and they bring everything to the table! It’s great with littles—I LOVE me a buffet but not where I have to get up and go get everything, it’s not ideal with little ones! Now this is also served family style! It is $45/adult and $25/child ages 3-9!

The ambiance here—they NAILED IT!! You legit feel like you’re in Andy’s room! There are some other elements that make it special and immersive, I don’t want to ruin those for you!

If you like BBQ—this is the place for you! They start with “The Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits” with sweet pepper jelly and you’d think that combo is a no go but the biscuits were warm and just YUM!!

Now did I touch ANYTHING from “Get a Wiggle on Your Greens?” ABSOLUTELY NOT👏🏼Could it be I was feeding Mr. Nash? Possibly but really none of the salads did it for me and when you’re already getting so much food, I had no desire! I shared the menu and a pic of the salads tho if that’s your thing!

Now for the meat🥩🍖I will say because I was feeding Nash, I didn’t get to have mine warm and I truly only had the chicken but my fiancé was impressed with all of it! You get ribs, beef brisket, sausage, and BBQ chicken🤤

You also get to pick FOUR sides😍I will say “the married spuds” were my fav along with the “slinky dog mac n’ cheese” HAVE YOU EVER HAD MAC N CHEESE WITH CRUSHED UP GOLDFISH?! 🤯🤯Amazing combo!! Corn on the cob was like elote🤤my FAV! No baked beans for me and I’ve yet to hear from someone who likes them! P.s. If you want to try more than 4, they will bring you more!

Now for the best part—DESSERT😍🤤My fiancé got the lemon & blueberry cheesecake—I took a bite and it’s not that it was bad, I just liked the chocolate silk pie, more! They’ll also bring you more than one. I’d like to try the apple pie next time! 🍎

There are plant based options for everything here! 🌱

I did not have any alcoholic beverages so that’s on my list for next time too!

I give this a 12/10 the ambiance is everything, the immersive experience, the food, I was VERY impressed and am ready for it again like TOMORROW!🤪

Fantasmic was FANTASTIC🐭✨🎇Some tips when thinking about future clients and what I’d share with them—GET TO THE SHOW EARLY! Like an HOUR early. Since we have Nico baby, I can’t imagine sitting with him or keeping him entertained for an hour but if your children can sit entertained—it’s worth it for better seats! Not that I believe there is a bad seat in the house, just viewing the show from the center is what I prefer, we were on a wing and it’s a loooooong walk in and looooong walk out🙃There’s concessions available but we also were prepared with juice and snacks, Ms Rachel, etc! Another thing I didn’t think about—how loud and scary the show is! Nico legit hated it! 🙈So glad we took a 3hr nap to bury our face in Dad’s chest🥴I’ll share some videos in a bit because FB won’t let me do both at once? Strange! After Fantasmic we took the Skyliner over to Epcot to get to Beaches & Cream which is at the Beach Club resort. We did have a dining reservation earlier in the day but I canceled it due to naptime and figured we could get the same ice cream at the walk up window (You can literally get whatever ice cream they serve at the restaurant at the walk up window just probs not the kitchen sink IYKYK) I’ve had my mind on the No Way Jose for quite some time and it did not disappoint! It was a chilly walk back to the Skyliner and then our car at Hollywood Studios. We weren’t back at the resort until almost 11😴Nico was such a trooper and fell asleep in the stroller on the way to the car! I’ll share our Magic Kingdom day tomorrow as we are about to be home and we need to thaw and get dry first😅

What a beautiful day for Hollywood Studios! So so happy we aren’t sweating! Breakfast was at Hollywood & Vine with Disney Junior friends-Vampirina, Fancy Nancy and Doc McStuffins all of which Nico was scared if so LOVE THAT FOR ME🙈It is a buffet and kids under 3 are free! Do I think it was worth $95? Absolutely not but it’s the experience right🤪Then we headed to Disney Play Junior Live which went over MUCH better! It’s like an indoor dance party for the littles with various showtimes throughout the day! We wanted to go watch Frozen but we were approaching nap time! Shoutout to Starbucks for having whole milk so we didn’t have to make a stop on the way back to the hotel! Nico baby napped almost 3 hours as well as the parents😴Dinner was just quick service at the hotel and now we’re back at Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic. I will most definitely be sobbing like a baby!🥹Magic Kingdom tomorrow!

We’re loving Port Orleans Riverside so far! 😍The Alligator Bayou theme is ON POINT🤩 The entire resort and grounds are GORGEOUS! You definitely feel like you’re in the bayou in the south! We have a corner room that’s a 5th sleeper which isn’t necessary for us but it’s all we could get and I love it! I did request on the app for a room on the ground floor (another perk on the app!) just for stroller and lugging all of our stuff! You could fit a family just fine in here though and have a child sleep on the pull down bed! We have Nico’s pack n’ play in here too with plenty of space! Bathroom is a little small but it does the job and I’m a brat for water pressure so it’s not my fav but I LOVE the curtain that separates the sink and vanity area from the rest of the room! As parents, it’s nice to be able to turn the light on while getting ready for bed and Nico is already asleep in the main room, it’s the little things🙆🏻‍♀️I’ll share videos later but we’re off to breakfast at Hollywood & Vine with some Disney Junior pals!❤️

As promised!🎉 A room tour of a 5th sleeper at Port Orleans Riverside in the Alligator Bayou section🐊Port Orleans Riverside is a moderate resort in the Disney Springs resort area. What I forgot to mention in the video is the blackout curtain between the vanity/sink area and the bedroom. My fiancé and I were able to have the lights on and get ready for bed/shower, eat meals (for real!) behind the curtain with our son sleeping out in the pack n’ play in the bedroom area undisturbed. Did you know you can also request a crib to your room?! This was a shorter stay so we brought our pack n’ play but nice to know about that option! Have you stayed at Port Orleans Riverside before?! 🐊😢🛶Is it now on your list?! French Quarter is on my bucket list! 🎭

Take a trip on down to the bayou for some Southern hospitality at Port Orleans Riverside!🐸🛶We stayed here for the very first time in November 2022 for an impromptu final trip as a family of 3! This is a moderate resort in WDW in the Disney Springs resort area. You really feel like you’ve stepped into the Louisiana Bayou ironically gators not included in the Alligator Bayou section🤪There is another section called Magnolia Bend that resembles the stately mansions you’d find down south! I captured these clips of the grounds near our room and I’ll share a room tour next!😍Bonus is the holiday decor as we were here in late November, temps were also perfect then!🥰

POV—You just checked into your room at the absolutely GORGEOUS Coronado Springs Resort in WDW and now you’re headed to the pool w/the water slide. You have reservations for the character breakfast tomorrow morning at Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera, life is good!😍

HIIIII👋🏼Little delayed life update here! 🙆🏻‍♀️ I took on a full-time 4th grade ELA teaching job which started July 5th and my kiddos started July 12th (it’s a year-round school!) so between teaching life, Mom life, also working part-time for WW and fiancé life—you can say it’s been a tad hectic🙈I haven’t shared as much as I’d like to here! My Mom came to visit a few weeks back and I’d like to devote the next few posts to a recap and some tips from our time in Disney!🏰 Of course we couldn’t ONLY squeeze in a Disney Springs day soooo I also surprised her with tickets to ✨Magic Kingdom✨ Here’s the big reveal🎉 I told her I got her a shirt but had to tell a little white lie when asking her to bring her MagicBand and told her she needed it for our reservations at the Boathouse🤪 You only need your MagicBand for park entry but I had to still keep it a secret and get her to play along😉 If you’re wanting to help surprise someone with the trip of a lifetime, get in touch!
