White Scar Caves - Ingleton
( the longest show cave in England)

A couple of weeks ago we visited these super caves, located 30 mins away from the to lodge in Ingleton.

The caves was great, you travel 1/2 mile in and 1/2 mile out.

The temperature is a very cool 9 degrees so please do take a coat and it is wet down there too so appropriate footwear is required.

There is a cute little coffee shop, for drinks and snacks with some amazing views and also a gift shop

You do need at some points in the tour to be able to crouch down and walk (hard hats are provided)

Yesterday was a beautiful day - so me and mum headed into the lakes for a hike

This stunning walk from Ambleside - Rydal Water circular was a little over 6.5 miles, involved was some elevation but worth it for the views.

I highly recommend the All Trails App to find some super walks 🥾🥾

The lake was calm and tranquil this morning before It filled up with kids playing in the sand and water all afternoon.

I would like to remind people please please wear life jackets when on/in the lake regardless if you can swim or not, granted there not cool or attractive, but they will save your life!

The lake is deep there is weeds and you never know when you may get into difficulties it’s quite worrying sometimes when you see kids in the middle of the lake with no life jackets. Anybody can quite easily take a mouth full of water start coughing and get into difficulties and start to panic

Decking cleaning is a constant battle - today I’ve won for at least a few hours 🤦‍♀️

I had chance of a 24 stay in the lodge this week, so we nipped in to make the most of it whilst staying else where on site ( as you do when you own your lodge but it’s always booked out)

It’s been a lovely week on site, met some guest who was staying in LS18 which is always nice to meet guests in person.

I’ve found 2 new places to venture to locally pop a post up shortly.

For now it’s a spot of lunch before a long 154 mile journey home and M6 traffic 🤦‍♀️

Before I came home today I have left some flyers in the lodge if guest would like to take some please do so.

I have also left a selection on walks, there is currently only 1 of each so if guests can please replace or take a picture so other guests can use them until I get some more

New parasol is up, long summer nights we’re ready for you ☀️

I do have availability june / July midweek and also a 2 night stay 5th - 7th August (the rest of August is fully booked.

I do have a lot of repeat customers so weekends and key bank holidays etc can book up a year in advance.

I’ve popped up for a few days and the first coat of decking/skirt stain has been done - just another 3 to go (in between guests)

These views on a clear day can make you feel like your not on this planet 🌎

Many will know these lakes, but many may not, so here again is the destinations and postcodes

You don’t always need and abroad holiday when. You have these magical places

These places are here for us all to enjoy, they all have beautiful clear water and set in some of the most stunning surroundings in England, please remember to leave them clean and tidy

How nice has the weather been this last week?

May only has a 2 night stay left all month, as we’re fully booked otherwise

Let’s hope the nice weather continues for the foreseeable, the decking/underskirts are all due to be stripped and re painted in just over a weeks time, please stay dry, as trying to get these jobs done in good weather between guests is tricky.

Hope the owner is safely found, the leash was snapped so really hope the owner is safe - adding emergency contact details on your SUP’s etc is a must … putting a mobile number on the bottom of the paddle board (permanent marker)

Further update: the missing paddleboarder has been found safe and well. Apparently he had been blown off his board but made it safely back to shore.

Update - After a multi-agency search of the lake and lake shore the various search teams stood down at 22:00 on Friday night. Please contact the Police if any information on the owner of the board arises.

There’s a search underway on Derwentwater for the owner of this paddle board which was found unattended on the lake earlier this evening. If you have any information please message Keswick MRT, or contact the Police.
