We opted for this experience so we can go on a boat ride with the kids and have a look around the castle. I wasn't even vaguely interested in meeting King Charles II, I thought it was just going to be some kind of cringy dress-up show. How wrong I was and what we would have missed had we not stayed to meet him!! An incredibly knowledgeable man did a fantastically humorous performance, involving adults and children alike. I wish all history teachers were like him. Thank you!
Expected to join Charles II for a few mins only as not really tour people & have young kids (4 &6) with short attention span. Stayed for full 90mins and couldn’t believe so much time had passed - thoroughly engaging and funny. Even had my shy 6 year old volunteering answers in front of a room full of people. I’ve never written a Tripadvisor review before but felt obliged to do so.

Dunfermline now a city , my fathers birthplace and so a very special place in the hearts of King Charles I, and myself King Charles II and now made into a city by the new King,
King Charles III, oh how wonderful long live the era of the stuarts and Windsors.

The Trinity parish magazine recently came out, celebrating the Queens jubilee, from the summer, the sadness of losing her majesty is deeply felt by the whole nation, during this period of mourning King Charles II will not be holding an audience at Elizabeth Castle out of respect for her majesty.
