Was lovely weather this weekend for a bit of paddle boarding in Newbiggin bay (paddle boards hired from Newbiggin Surf Company) and for some rock-pooling at Amble. Going to be even warmer next weekend.

Kite Festival at Newbiggin this weekend. Purple teddy kite was 64 foot long - amazing! I missed the rest of the amazing kites. Tide well in on the rest of the beach. Lovely weather over the bank holiday weekend. Happy Easter everyone x

Lovely day on the beach at Newbiggin today, sea looks gorgeous, plenty of folk on the beach. Seal rescue operation in progress by BDMLR medics. Paddle-boarders in the bay.

It’s grey seal pupping season and one little fella got trapped between the breakwater rocks at Low Hauxley ( a few miles up the coast from Newbiggin). Luckily our friend Debbie Harrison is a Marine Mammal Medic with British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) however, she and her team needed the help of the Fire Brigade, Coastguard and Search and Rescue for this little 2 week old. Battling for hours in freezing weather, hailstones, incoming tide and then darkness they eventually got him free. He is doing well. A massive shout out to all those involved with the rescue and apparently that was just one of many that day. You are all brilliant and it is amazing having these beautiful creatures on our shores. Well done xx

🐬 Oh! The dolphins were spectacular yesterday at Newbiggin, full body breaches, tail slapping and lots of fins on show. They were having some fun catching their lunch. I was too busy watching to get any decent photos. Amazing! 🐬

Wow!! The Northern lights were visible from the Northumberland coast over the weekend including from Newbiggin.
