I was one of the million plus donors. I was one of those donating to the 2024 election for the first time. Donald Trump & those around him who craft his policies & look to use him as a puppet are dangerous. Project 2025 is horrifying. I’m excited to see Kamala win in November!
We had a last minute cancellation so Christmas is now availableto book! It’s a great place to stay while visiting fams.
Is it a book nook or music nook? We check the guitar tuning between every flip so it’s ready to play!

First sub-irrigated planter for a raised bed garden is built and positioned! I charred the wood & coated with Tung oil. Hopefully this self-watering planter keeps the heirloom mortgage lifter tomato plants happy. Finding time between bookings to build has been tricky as we’re mostly booked up!
Shout out to for pointing me towards the natural tung oil. It looks great & is super easy to use. I need to hit it w/a second coat in a few days.
I JUST realized we have a Miro art book on our bookshelf. The dining room painting being Miro is a

That feeling when you’re getting a ton of great reviews & then have a guest message you just to say “We are comfortably settled into our lovely apartment. Your attention to details, comfort, and cleanlinessis not only refreshing but very much appreciated. Thank you for this!” We’ve still got some weekends open in November & dates in December if you want to find out for yourself what makes Brown & Hidden Gem so magical & extraordinary.
Candy bowl is ready for trick or treaters tonight. Don’t worry, we’ve got about 4 more bags in reserve. Fingers crossed the rain stops in Providence.

I walked from College Hill to a meeting downtown today. This was the traffic situation at South Water Street at around 5:45pm. This doesn’t seem like a problem the city needs to spend 4.4 million dollars to “fix”. How will 2 traffic lanes make this area better for most of those who use and live around here? It was 2 lanes of hostile road infrastructure before & the city wisely did a “road diet” to make it safer & more inviting. When the rest of the country is moving forward w/diets that help meet climate goals & vision zero goals, why is @pvdmayor trying to take Providence backwards? Why does he want to build a barrier of car lanes again to segregate the East Side from Downtown?
It’s been a lot of fun hosting so many visitors & future Providence residents over the years. But, after an amazing 5 year run with flawless 5 star ratings & rave reviews, we’ve decided to transition to something new. Now through mid-August is your last chance to stay at Brown & Hidden Gem. It’s going long term rental at the end of August. So book now to catch one of our few remaining dates! Love our decor? Well, don’t worry - there will be an epic late summer estate sale where most everything you see kitted out in the space is on sale!
Where will all the cars parked on Hope St go if they put in a bike lane? Here’s one block of Hope. Zero parked cars at 9AM. I started counting. Between 655 Hope St & Olney Street, a 3168 foot stretch of road, there were 24 cars total parked on one side. There was plenty of space on side streets & the other side of Hope for cars to park on. It’s in line w/the data counts @providencestreets found in their report.https://pvdstreets.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/final-report-v7_FINAL.pdf There’s some cute bike racks up Hope St by @hopestreetmerchants strip of shops. I’ll never get to use them so long as there’s no bike lane up Hope. It’s too dangerous to ride my bike in traffic up that stretch. I live right off Olney St by Hope St. I’d love to frequent shops up Hope more if it were convenient. If I have to go all the way east to Blackstone’s bike lane, I’ll just take my business to Pawtucket instead, where I can basically bike to the front door of some Oak Hill area shops.
Just signed up for Pointz app! It helps find bike routes. Unlike the googs that’ll suggest “totes ride your bike down this busy street!”, you can toggle setting for your comfort. It can help find chiller routes & notes bike lanes & other bike friendly amenities.
Have you seen the Providence Crash data map yet? If not - go check it out. It shows traffic accidents across the city. Far too many involved people walking and cyclists. Safe Streets can be made with “road diet” Road Diets include things like bike lanes & other infrastructure changes to make it harder for cars to speed and safer for people to use the street. South Water Street in Providence underwent a “road diet” and was changed from a 2 lane “drag strip” of one way traffic into 1 lane. The positive impact of that change has been huge! The businesses feel it, the neighbors feel it, the visitors feel it. Check out this data! Providence needs to move forward in making more streets safer. Make sure you tell @pvdmayor that you don’t want him to take the city backwards.
