Booking agencies/websites charge both the owner and the guest to use their services (VRBO, AirBnB, etc). There are benefits including insurance policies, communication platform, payment processing, etc. but the guest ends up paying more. Booking direct can be cheaper but it’s important to ensure that both parties are legit. When booking direct, we like to ask potential guests about their travel plans, where they are from, etc. and may even do a phone interview. We have guests fill out a booking agreement that includes contact information. We require payment before giving guests any access information. Dates are reserved with a deposit and final payment is due 8 weeks before check in! Payment options include interac Etransfer🇨🇦, PayPal or bank transfer/certified check.
