Blue flag beach award time!

Blue Flags and Seaside Awards announced for five East Yorkshire beaches! 🏖️

Hornsea and Withernsea have both been awarded Blue Flag status in the internationally recognised scheme.

Three other beaches – Bridlington North, South Landing and Wilsthorpe – have all earned Seaside Awards in the annual initiative naming the UK’s top beaches.

This is the fourth year running that Hornsea has been awarded a Blue Flag, and the second year in a row for Withernsea.

ATLAS MOTH ALERT!

We have just had TWO Atlas Moths emerge, so if you want the chance to see one of the largest insects in the world, hurry to Bugtopia Hornsea Zoo soon as not to miss out... their life span is very short!

We're also lucky that the pair are a male and female, so we have put them together in the hope they will reproduce. Hopefully we can get lots of caterpillars and more of these stunning moths!

Dog Exclusion Zones 2024 🐶

The Coastal Service Team would like to remind all dog walkers, that the dog exclusion zones on Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea beaches come into effect from Wednesday 1st May and will remain in place until Monday 30th September.

BEVERLEY GRAND PRIX CYCLING EVENT TO RETURN IN JULY FOR FIRST TIME IN SEVEN YEARS

After several years, the British Cycling National Circuit Series returns to Beverley town centre on Friday 26th July 2024, bringing future stars of the sport to compete in the prestigious series.

Last run in 2017, the Beverley Grand Prix has in recent memory produced such winners as Brenton Jones, Chris Lawless, and three times Olympic gold medallist, Ed Clancy OBE.

In the weeks before the Paris Olympic Games, Beverley Grand Prix will bring round six of the Open and Women’s National Circuit Series for an evening of fast, thrilling cycle racing action which will commence around 4pm with a community ride giving families a chance to experience a national level cycling event in the safety of closed roads around the town.

In advance of the competitive races, there will be a Community Ride, aimed at younger riders, which will give opportunity to ride ‘traffic free’ around the course with friends and family.

Multiple youth races and a support race will precede the two joint headline events as the evening draws to a close around 10pm.

I’ve had a very tasty steak there and a fabulous evening.

All in easy walking distance from one of our holiday cottages on Norwood.
