The India Plate is moving Northeast, it’s bumping up against the Sunda and Eurasia. This is causing a chain reaction with the Eurasia quakes in Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan,Kazakhstan and Myanmar. The Sunda is moving Northeast as well which is causing a chain reaction in Indonesia and Philippines. The problem is right now we got the Sunda Plate moving under the Philippines Plate in NW Luzon where the big one hit. This is the Manila Subduction Zone. Then you have the Philippines Plate pushing over the Sunda from Southern Luzon down to Indonesia. So we are seeing pressure on both sides of the Sunda and Philippines Plates. We also have pressure down on the Southern side of the Sunda Plate near the Banda and Sulawesi Plates. We are also seeing pressure on the Northern Side of the Philippines Plate which is putting pressure on Japan and Taiwan. This is why we are seeing all this motion going on and why these areas are in my high risk quake watch. I hope this helps. Stay alert. Much love. ~Kulas~

The ultimate sustainable packaging! We need more of this!

Vendors in Asia have come up with alternative packaging to eliminate the use of plastics by using baskets made from coconut fronds & banana leaf packaging.

The baskets (made entirely out of coconut fronds) are locally called ‘Sulingkat’. The fruit & veg wrapped in banana leaves also make the agricultural produce last longer since they keep the moisture in while blocking the heat.

In Southeast Asia, more than 75% of the material value of recyclable plastic is lost.
With only 18 to 28% of recyclable plastic recovered & recycled, most plastic packaging waste pollutes the environment, according to studies by the World Bank Group.

Using coconut & banana leaves are a great alternative to plastic as the leaves are large, thick & supple enough to be folded. This method significantly reduces the amount of plastic required.
