Baking in Paris Day 9: Our last full day in Paris ended with one of our favorite classes - Fraisiers! A delicious pastry layered with sponge cake, mousseline cream, strawberries, and chantilly cream. We started the day at the local market to check out the brocante and food stalls and then made our way to the baking studio for one last time while taught the group how to make this classic French pastry!

Did you know that over 6 billion baguettes are sold in France every year?

There is even a competition in Paris every year to determine the best baguettes in the city.

Here are the top 3 from 2022:

1. Boulangerie Frédéric Comyn - 88 rue de Cambronne, 75015

2. Aux Délices de Glacière - 90 bd Auguste Blanqui, 75015

3. La Parisienne St Dominique - 85 rue St Dominique, 75007

We tried the baguette from La Parisienne last year (the 3rd best), and it was definitely one of the best baguettes we’ve ever had! If you’re going to Paris soon, it’s worth doing a baguette tasting of your own to the top 3 spots!

Have you heard of a “bouillon” before? Basically, it was a large restaurant that served typical French cuisine in the 19th-20th centuries.

Luckily, in Paris, you can try out one or two for yourself at one of the Bouillon restaurants. We tested out Bouillon Chartier and Bouillon République, and while there is much better French cuisine in Paris, the experience was 100% worth it.

You can try an array of dishes like Boeuf Bourguignon, French onion soup, and other French classics for a very reasonable price. It’s fun to get an assortment and a taste of so many different dishes!

Plus, the buildings are decorated in a way that make you feel like you’re stepping back into the 19th century!
