What an honor to be hosted by Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam also know as AKON, Senegalese-American artist, producer and entrepreneur. Akon celebrated the opening of his youth center in Akon City. We witnessed elevation, community, culture, and innovation. Congrats to Akon and the work he is doing in his home country. Thank you for including us. #AkonCity #Akon #WeAreOne #BridgeTheGap #ADC2022 #Senegal #Dakar #WeAreGlobalCitizens #FindYourWayBack
In partnership with the National Muslim Business Council and Muslim Journal, lead by the office of Special Envoy of Trade and Investment of Sierra Leone, Ambassador Waleed Shamsid-Deen and hosted by Senegal under the coordination of Bashir Seck, ADC2022 welcomes 42 Black American delegates to Dakar, Senegal. A time filled with cultural exposure, business opportunities, religious tourism, and fellowship. We had a time to remember. Where on the continent are we headed to next? Stay tuned! #ADC2022 #WeAreGlobal #WeAreOne #CultureExposure #Dakar #Senegal #FindYourWayBack
This day was a day of spiritual/religious exposure. We were honored to be hosted by a Sheik, the Caliph General of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacke and his wife Sokhna Bally Mbacke. We visited the Great Mosque of Touba and communed together. This trip is a transformative one. One that is shared with multiple generations, and cultures but with the spirit of one people. What an honor. What a welcome. What a necessity. #ADC2022 #Senegal #Touba #WeAreOne #GlobalCitizens #Intergenerational
Remember. Knowing the stories of our ancestors is the power behind how we pursue our future. When we disconnect, we lose power. To reclaim our power, we must return to the source. #GoreeIsland #blackcivilization #DoorOfNoReturn #ADC2022 #WeAreOne #WeAreGlobal #WeArePower #FindYourYourBack
Today was a day of reconnecting, sharing in our oneness, from being a part of a press conference in French, Wolof and English to hearing the history of Jollof rice, sharing in traditional dance, and sharing in the singing the Black National Anthem. This is community, this is oneness, this is us.
And it begins!!! What an honor to lead 42 delegates (5 of them seniors from Mohammad Schools of Atlanta), most for the first time, to Dakar Senegal. African Diaspora Connect in partnership with Muslim Journal, NMBC, Bashir Seck, the government of Senegal, and I are on a mission to bridge the gap of connection and business between Black Americans in the diaspora and our community on the continent one country at a time. We are global citizens!!! #BridgeTheGap #Senegal #GlobalCitizens #CulturalExchange #CulturalExposure #Africa #WeAreOne #ADC2022
