Country 4: 🇭🇳 Honduras 🇭🇳

Honduras has thus far blown my expectations out of the water, quite literally (thank you white water rafting).

I'm so fortunate to have my brother and .lynn traveling with me my first week here. It will be sad to see them go soon 😔.

Right now we are staying on the Rio Cangrejal in the incredible , which is wedged between the Pico Bonito and Nombre de Dios national parks here. Yesterday we did a 3 hour round trip hike through the jungle to this stunning waterfall view. The wildlife here is astounding. We've seen tree frogs, toads, so so many beautiful butterflies, and one too many tropical spiders for my taste 🙅‍♀️.

I can't wait to keep you all updated as this leg of the journey gets underway 🎒.

📌 Local Spotlight on Cafe and Restaurante Atitlan

This sweet local spot is located in San Juan La Laguna on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Gloria owns and operates the place with the help of her family.

All of the pizzas are homemade and made fresh to order, not to mention delicious! The best part of this place though is definitely Gloria and the warmth and hospitality her family brings to each guest.

Be sure to check out her restaurant when you're in San Juan, and her art gallery next door! Gloria is also part of a women's art collective in San Juan and has some incredible pieces on display!

Gloria, gracias por tu hospitalidad y la comida deliciosa! Nos vemos pronto!

🇲🇽 When in Mexico cenotes are a must see! We ended up spending more time in Merida than we originally planned and the cenotes here are STUNNING! In my opinion, they're also a bit less overtly touristic than those in Tulum.

For $350 pesos you get entrance into the Santa Barbara park and access to it's 3 cenotes, bike rental, and a delicious lunch. Totally worth it and makes for a relaxing day.

📌 Local Spotlight 📌

In the heart of Mexico City's charming Coyoacan neighborhood is . A Mexican cultural center that offers tours, experiences, and even a bed and breakfast!

We can say with full confidence that our stay in Mexico City would not have been so magical had we not stayed here and met the incredible owners, Ninelth and Javier. They welcomed us into their home with such generosity and openness.

Our first night when we arrived we had an opportunity to join in on the dance lessons they were holding on their rooftop terrace in collaboration with . This seriously pushed me out of my comfort zone (given that I have two left feet), but we immediately felt safe, welcomed, and enjoyed the HELL out of it! I cannot recommend this enough! Lessons are usually held on Friday nights. If you're on town on a Thursday be sure to check out their jazz nights on the rooftop as well!

La Puerta de Quetzalcoatl also operates their own restaurant which serves up traditional Mexican cuisine with a vegetarian twist! I'm still dreaming about the chickpea tostadas 🤤

If you're not around for one of their event nights be sure to stop into their shop which has independently designed art from Ninelth and authentic locally sourced Mezcal.

A huge thank you to Javier and Ninelth for making our time in CDMX so memorable. we can't wait to be back!
