Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad yang terletak di hadapan Dataran Merdeka adalah mercu tanda bagi bandar raya Kuala Lumpur, ibu negara Malaysia. Bangunan ini mengambil nama Sultan Abdul Samad, sempena nama Sultan Selangor pada masa ia mula dibina 1894.

Di hadapan bangunan indah ini beberapa peristiwa sejarah berlaku. Di sinilah tempat di mana bendera Union Jack diturunkan pada 31 Ogos 1957 dan bendera Jalur Gemilang dikibarkan. Peristiwa ini menunjukkan berlalulah satu era dijajah kepada era masyarakat yang merdeka 🇲🇾
