The Hilton Hawaiian Village is a large complex with dining, shopping, pools, and of course the beach! Here is a walk thru.
We stayed at the Grand Waikikian, which is shown at the beginning of the video.
The resort was about this full when we were there a couple weeks ago*

*when we arrived Friday evening the main check in was PACKED! I have no idea where they all went though!

At the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel, there is a bar named Mai Tai. Guess what they're famous for? That's right, hand crafted Mai Tais. The drink was invented and brought to Hawaii in 1953 by "Trader Vic" Bergeron. Here at the Royal Hawaiian it became famous. And synonymous with Hawaii.
Here accompanied by a Lava Flow.

Rainbows are A. Thing. here in Hawaii. The clean air on the islands, the mountains, the clouds and the trade winds make the perfect recipe. Its the rainbow capital of the world.

From Kualoa Beach which has unobstructed views of Mokolii, to Ala Moana surf breaks, Oahu has it all. A drive around the island can take as little as 3 hours. But not for a true traveler. Take the Kamehameha Highway along the coast for views like this.

Yesterday we drove to the North Shore. We got shave ice in Haleiwa.
Day geckos hang out here waiting to sip on sweet droppings.
This was pineapple, lilikoi & mango, with a splash of sweet cream on top and sweet azuki beans on the bottom.
Shave ice in Hawaii is like nothing else, the ice is literally shaved fine as snow and hand shaped before local sugar cane flavored syrup is generously applied. The beans on the bottom are a sweet black bean that contrasts with the soft, sweet ice.

Golden hour over Oahu's pineapple fields.

Rent a car and get out of Honolulu, see the old Hawaii. The interior is full of agriculture, with lush valleys, red earth and sacred land. And chickens.

The Pink Palace of the Pacific...otherwise known as the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, one of the very first hotels on Oahu. Its doors opened in 1927, originally a stop for customers on steamer line trips with the Matson Navigation Company.

Pouli: a period of darkness in the brightest night.

Did you behold the Pouli Ka Mahina (eclipse of the moon) in the wee hours this morning? Did you watch as Mahina entered Manaiakalani (the Scorpio constellation) and danced through the sky with Antares, the brightest star in Manaiakalani before her light was shrouded by Earth’s shadow between 1:11 a.m. and 1:25 a.m.?

What, you missed that? 🖐 So did a lot of us. That was early. Or was it late? Either way, here’s your “constellation prize,” with a Milky Way bonus, as seen from Mauna Loa Road.
