The word ‘azulejo’ stems from Arabic roots, meaning ‘small polished stone’. It’s popularity in Portuguese culture started around the 16th and 17th centuries.
Unfortunately our trip to Lisbon was to short to spend time at the Museu Nacional do Azulejo. However, the city itself didn't disappoint in showcasing this national icon.📍Lisbon, Portugal - March 2017
