The word ‘azulejo’ stems from Arabic roots, meaning ‘small polished stone’. It’s popularity in Portuguese culture started around the 16th and 17th centuries.

Unfortunately our trip to Lisbon was to short to spend time at the Museu Nacional do Azulejo. However, the city itself didn't disappoint in showcasing this national icon.📍Lisbon, Portugal - March 2017

Hidden between two buildings in Alfama district, you will find “Miradouro Das Portas do Sol” which is a balcony that gives you one of the best views of Alfama and the river.

🌳 Parque Eduardo VII 🌳

Parque Eduardo VII is not your usual park. It sits on a slope and has a formal garden design. Shades areas can be found on the side of the park. However, if you make it to the top you will get unbroken views of Lisbon all the way to the river.

▪️Interesting fact: The Park was named after King Edward VII who visited Lisbon in 1903. It used to be called called Parque da Liberdade (Liberty Park).
