Join the Washington County Historical Trust to learn how to save, repair, restore and weatherproof old windows in a 3-day workshop. This 3-day session will cover everything you need to know to save, repair and maintain old windows, including making them weatherproof to eliminate drafts in the house. The second and third days will consist of hands-on workshops to repair your own window or work on windows provided. $150/3-day workshop.

Explore a hidden gem of hunting and conservation history at the Woodmont Natural Resources Management Area. Fifteen visitors will have the chance to tour the majestic Woodmont Lodge and view beautiful artifacts from the early days of the Woodmont Rod and Gun Club. Guests will need to wear shoe covers inside the lodge and use special flashlights to preserve the building's integrity. Washington County Government, in partnership with Preservation Maryland, invites you to attend "Preservation Basics," a free event at the Washington County Free Library on Wednesday, May 22nd, at 6:00 PM. This engaging presentation, led by Christiana Limniatis, the Program & Outreach Manager at Preservation Maryland, will provide an overview on the history of historic preservation, how preservation projects are accomplished, and explore the benefits to preserving our historic built environment.

This informative session is free and open to the public, though registration is encouraged. A suggested donation of $10 is recommended to support Preservation Maryland in offering free and low-cost educational programming. The event is co-hosted by the Washington County Historical Trust and Washington County Government.

Washington County Launches "Love Historic" Campaign for Historic Preservation Month 💛

In honor of Historic Preservation Month in May, Washington County is excited to announce the launch of the "Love Historic" campaign. The campaign invites citizens to share photos of their favorite historic buildings in Washington County to be featured on the county's website and social media platforms.

In honor of Historic Preservation Month in May, Washington County is excited to announce the launch of the "Love Historic" campaign. The campaign invites citizens to share photos of their favorite historic buildings in Washington County to be featured on the county's website and social media platforms.

To participate in the "Love Historic" campaign, individuals are asked to visit www.washco-md.net/preservation-month to fill out a simple online form. All entries must include a photo of the building, along with a brief description of why it is meaningful to the participant.

Photos will be shared on the Washington County website and across social media throughout May to celebrate Historic Preservation Month, offering a unique opportunity to showcase the county's historical gems. Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag when sharing their submissions on social media.

The Sharpsburg Historical Society invites you to a free program at its monthly meeting this Thursday, March 28, at 6:30, to hear the story of the Peter Glass House. Roger Fairbourn, who helped save the 18th-century house, will trace its history from its original location on East Chapline Street, Sharpsburg, to its reconstruction at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center on Sharpsburg Pike. The meeting will be in the Community Room of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 W. Main Street, Sharpsburg. Information 301 992 9767.
