📣 Felicity Aston has been selected on the Top Explorer List 🏅

The Top Explorer List honours inspiring and accomplished explorers, adventurers, and athletes. 
They come from a variety of disciplines and have excelled through inspiring expeditions, incredible records and powerful personal achievements by pursuing their dreams.

⭐️ In the year 2000, Felicity travelled to Antarctica for the first time with the British Antarctic Survey as a meteorologist. Aged 23, she spent a continuous period of two and a half years (including two consecutive winters) at Rothera Research Station on the Antarctic Peninsula to monitor climate and ozone levels.
Felicity went on to organise and lead numerous expeditions to remote places around the world, particularly to the polar regions. Her expeditions have included the first British women’s crossing of Greenland, a 6,000 km drive to the South Pole, a 36,000 km drive to the Pole of Cold, and leading international teams of women on ski expeditions to both the North and South Poles.

📣 Mark Agnew ( ) has been selected on the Top Explorer List 🏅

The Top Explorer List honours inspiring and accomplished explorers, adventurers, and athletes. 
They come from a variety of disciplines and have excelled through inspiring expeditions, incredible records and powerful personal achievements by pursuing their dreams.

⭐️ Mark Agnew and his teammates made history when he kayaked the Northwest Passage in 2023. They were the first to do it by kayak and the first to complete the passage by human power, no motors or sails, in a single season. The accolades flooded in.

But for Mark, it is not the outcome that matters. It is the experience. Adventure is not defined by the finish point, but by the shared effort and the journey. For Mark, the world firsts and awards are secondary to the adventure and his teammates: the Arctic Cowboys - expedition leader West Hansen, Jeff Wueste and Eileen Visser.

Mark is an adventurer, speaker, and journalist who made his mark while living in Hong Kong by founding the Outdoor & Extreme sports section of the South China Morning Post, the largest of its kind in any newspaper worldwide. Through his work, he shares the joys and lessons learned from adventuring both near and far.

📣 Erik Weihenmayer ( ) has been selected on the Top Explorer List 🏅

The Top Explorer List honours inspiring and accomplished explorers, adventurers, and athletes. 
They come from a variety of disciplines and have excelled through inspiring expeditions, incredible records and powerful personal achievements by pursuing their dreams.

⭐️ Erik Weihenmayer, blind since the age of 14 due to retinoschisis, made history by becoming the first blind person to summit Mt. Everest on May 25, 2001. By 2008, he accomplished the Seven Summits challenge, climbing the highest peak on each continent, starting with Denali in 1995. Erik’s remarkable achievements garnered global acclaim, including a Time cover story, and he authored several books, including his memoir.
Despite his blindness, Erik excelled in wrestling and rock climbing, eventually becoming a teacher and coach. He co-founded No Barriers, a movement dedicated to helping people overcome obstacles and lead purposeful lives. Erik embodies the motto “What’s Within You Is Stronger Than What’s In Your Way,” exemplified by his accomplishments such as kayaking the 277-mile Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in 2014.

⭐️ French-born and now an American citizen, Cyril Derreumaux considers himself a citizen of the world. Fluent in six languages and continually expanding his linguistic repertoire, Cyril is passionate about learning and exploring new cultures and places.
Despite setbacks and a previous unsuccessful attempt, Cyril achieved his goal in September 2022 by reaching Hawaii, becoming the first kayaker to accomplish such a feat using only human power. Advocating for living life to the fullest, Cyril hopes his adventures inspire others to pursue their dreams relentlessly.

📣 Brendon Prince ( ) has been selected on the Top Explorer List 🏅

📣 Charlie Uldahl Christensen ( ) has been selected on the Top Explorer List 🏅

⭐️ Charlie is the founder of the NGO Walking for Water, dedicated to funding the installation of boreholes and public water pumps in African communities lacking clean water. Inspired by his volunteer work in Tanzania in 2013, Charlie has facilitated access to clean water for approximately 50,000 people through 81 water pumps across various African countries.
On May 18, 2023, he embarked on a 7,000-kilometer walk from Douala, Cameroon, to Arusha, Tanzania, aiming to raise awareness of the global water crisis. Previously, Charlie completed a 12,200-kilometer walk from Denmark to Tanzania spanning from 2015 to 2019

⭐️ Michelle holds a Master’s degree in Geology with a focus on volcanoes and has extensive knowledge of the eastern Sierra Nevada and Mineral King, CA. Her passion for the outdoors, geology, and photography began at the age of 9 when she visited the Crowley Cabin in Mineral King. Michelle’s love for exploring our planet was further fueled by geology trips to New Zealand, Australia, and the Eastern Sierra. This beautiful Earth inspires her to capture its beauty through her lens.

⭐️ Steve is first and foremost a teacher, but a teacher with a difference. He takes on immense challenges each year, raising to date over £200,000 for good causes as he pushes the boundaries to help inspire others.
Steve is also the founder of Team Hill Charitable Trust and is an Ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. He has been awarded an MBE for services to Education and Charity – along with multiple other awards including a National Teaching Award, Inspirational Teacher of the Year, National Happiest School Person, and Adventurer of the Year amongst many others.

Having spent most of her life in city surrounded by mountains, Grace Gunawan has a deep passion for exploring nature while ensuring its sustainability. During her hikes in Indonesia, she often encounters trash, especially plastic waste, littering the environment. Grace aims to organize mountain clean-up expeditions, starting with popular hiking destinations such as Mount Rinjani in West Nusa Tenggara.

She plans to install trail signs on official routes to enhance safety and reduce the risk of hikers getting lost.

Congratulations to ‚World Explorers Grant Winner‘ Manoel! 🏅

🥾🏔️
Manoel Morgado was born in Brazil and lived there until he was 33 years old when he left Brazil to live in the mountains. He climbed Everest and Cho Oyo and tried Manaslu without supplementary oxygen and sherpa help getting to 400 meters of the summit. He climbed the Seven Summits and many other mountains in the world. Last year he became the 27th person in the world to do the Nepal Great Himalayan Trail in one season by the highest possible route.

In September 2024 he will cross the whole of Buthan from East to West, always near the Tibetan border in 40 days with 40.000 meters of positive altimetry becoming the 4th person in the world to do both the Nepal and Buthan GHT.

Meet Steve Hill, MBE ( )an incredible teacher 👨‍🏫 from Oldham, UK, turned adventurer and ultra runner 👟

Why are people of color excluded from the outdoors?🛑🙅🏾‍♀️

Tinuke () is an adventurer with many hats - world record 🛼 rollerskater, 📺 TV star on BBC‘s Survivor or 🏕️ outdoor adrenalin ju**ie.

But her way into the adventure world was far from straight forward. As a colored woman from urban London her surrounding and community offered little to no access to the outdoor.

And after the loss of her biggest role model and source of inspiration, her mum, Tinuke set out to be the outsider and pave the way to make adventures more inclusive.

🗣️„I was a weirdo. No one in my community got it. People of color are not in the outdoors. There are several reasons for it and we feel extremely alienated in Nationalparks.“

Having four kids and no time didn’t stop Wendy from reaching the South Pole 👩‍🦳🇦🇶

Wendy Searle 🇬🇧 made headlines when reaching the South Pole, skiing unsupported, solo, and without any other help than using her own two legs.
For over a month had to fight the cold, the exhaustion and solitude.

⏰But How Do You Find the Time and Strength To Do That!?

🗣️„While training for the expedition i used to bring my kids along. That’s key, make them part of the journey and expedition“

Her incredible journey is not only inspiring to moms and women around the world but shows once against hat the glass ceiling can be shattered 💃

🗣️„Women need to be more vocal about their achievements. Men are much better at talking about what they have done. We women need to catch up and be proud of what we achieved“
