Step 2: Lay your blanket down in the Meadow**
Step 3: Look up!

That's right, the circumpolar constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor (the big and little bear) are found in our night sky year-round! The better known asterisms, the big and little dipper, are found within Ursa Major and Minor so it can be helpful to look for those first.

**We recommend the mowed section near Rapidan Fire Road, and that you always check for ticks after spending time in the Meadow.

Have you been lucky to spot a bear in our park? Or how about spotting a bear feasting on some berries and leaves? Black bears (Ursus americanus) actually have a unique adaptation that helps them while eating a meal-their tongues! Their tongues are quite sticky, allowing the bear to essentially "filter feed" what they want and don't want to eat. Similar to when we stick our hands into a bag of trail mix, and shake out the raisins, the black bear chooses exactly what they want, but with their tongues! What are some things that you think our black bears enjoy eating here in Shenandoah National Park?

The Page Theatre Building is located at 33 East Main Street and was constructed in 1939. This Art-Deco building opened in 1939 as the Page Theatre with air conditioning and was equipped with the "finest modern appointments". The Theatre included an illuminated marquee and shops accross the front.

After years of disuse, the building was remodeled in 1975 as a real estate office. In 1982, it reopened as the Foxfire Theatre. The building was enlarged and given a new facade in 1990.

The New Page Theater currently operates at the building.
