We are both Scotland born and bred, have lived in Scotland all our lives and have travelled, explored, hiked, and adventured extensively throughout the country. Since retiring a few years ago we decided that we’d like to share the knowledge and love that we both have of Scotland with those of you who wish to visit and experience this beautiful and fascinating country. At 30,270 sq miles (77,933 sq

km) Scotland is a small country, but thanks to its compact geography, infinitely varying landscape, and incredible history and culture, it’s probably the biggest (and best) small country in the world. There’s just so much to do, see, and experience that it can often seem a bit daunting trying to plan and experience the ideal trip yourself. Whether it’s climbing a mountain, wild swimming, visiting historic sights, the latest film and TV locations, whisky or gin distilleries, learning Scottish country dancing at a ceilidh, or just roaming around admiring the beautiful scenery, we can work with you to build a holiday to meet your specific needs, wants, and interests. And as well as planning and documenting your trip, we can even accompany, drive, or guide you on your trip or any part of it if you like. Scotland is our passion and our hobby, and our goal is for you to come and experience the Scotland that we know and love. If you would like us to help you meet this goal then pleased contact us directly through this website, or email us at [email protected] and we will arrange a meeting to discuss.

Ullapool is a fabulous place to stop off on your tour of Scotland and it’s much more than just a ferry stop. From boat trips around the summer isles, sampling the local seafood, walking in the area and cooling off in the local waters.

After a lovely Christmas and New Year with many of our friends and family, we decided to get away from it all for a while by taking my mother up north to the banks of beautiful Loch Tay for a few days of fun, adventure, and maybe the odd glass of wine or two. And a splendid time was had by all, as hopefully can be seen by the photos below 🥳.

As always, if/when you're next in Scotland you should give this area a wee visit, you won't be disappointed.

There are few nicer things in life than a lovely crisp, cold, winter's day outdoors, especially when you're wrapped up in a jacket equipped for the polar regions and beyond 🥶🥵. Today we visited the magnificent Culzean Castle and Gardens, located on Scotland's beautiful Ayrshire coast, and wandered for hours around the castle and surrounding park. If you're ever in the region, make sure you visit this fantastic location, you'll love it 🏰🏡🦋🌲🌳🌴🪻🌹💐

On 26th September we took the delightful Ailsa and Mark McMenemy on a tour of Hadrian's Wall, a huge 70 mile brick barricade built by the Romans in AD 122 to keep out the Scots to the north. Much of the wall still remains, as do the fortress and settlements of Vindolanda and Housesteads, and it's well worth visiting if you're into ancient history. It's also located on a beautiful and often craggy ridge which straddles the narrow neck of land between the Solway Firth on the west and the North Sea on the east, and a well maintained footpath runs almost the full length of the wall.

On our trip we visited Mithras Temple (a small, ruined temple near the eastern end of the wall, Vindolanda (the magnificent remains of a Roman fortress and surrounding settlements), and hiked to the beautiful, proud (and sadly no longer with us) Sycamore Tree Gap. This 300 year old tree is an iconic landmark in the area, and has not only been voted "tree of the year", but has also appeared in many films, including the classic Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Sadly the day after we visited some mindless vandals chopped down the tree, and now all that remains is a lonely stump. It's sad to think that we were among the last people ever to see the tree alive, and even more so to think that no-one else will now be able to appreciate its magnificent beauty. It's still a great walk along the ridge to the location, but it will never be quite the same again.

If you're interested in in experiencing this type of tour either in Scotland of Northern England then please get in touch and we'd be delighted to help you in any way we can.
