To kick off summer, head to Hamilton TOMORROW to celebrate Bitter Root Day from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Ravalli County Museum – a celebration of both the Salish Indian Tribe and the current community that resides there.

This event is centered around Montana’s state flower, the bitterroot. The bitterroot become the official state flower in 1895, by the vote of the public, and saved the lives of many Salish people. The Salish found that they could eat the roots of the flower and this festival commemorates this moment in history with drumming and dancing and tribal members in full regalia, jerky contest, recycled craft competitions, children’s activities, vendors and more.
