When in Canada...

It's time for the two travelers to become three. We want to introduce you all who may not already know to our newest tiny traveler. Because this is still a public IG ( ) the details of her arrival will remain private just for us but we are excited to share this journey with everyone who has journeyed with us before in our travels in Tycho. We've hesitated to post now that the tiny traveler is with us, but we think often about our treasured Aunt Sandy who enjoyed, commented a called often to share in our travels while she battled cancer We miss her and think about her and others like her who might not be able to travel today but we will do our best to take you with us and share our journeys responsibly as we show you all the beauty of the sights we are so privileged to see! We are so excited to be heading to Alaska with and taking the tiny traveler to see her first ocean waves, wildlife, and vast open waters. We can't wait for her to toddle on-board and crawl about the ship and have great hopes she will get her sea legs and they might teach her how to walk! We are joining Grammy and GG Auntie on this journey in honor of Andee's dad and GG, who passed away in 2020 and 2021... The last time she sailed this passage was with them both. It is also the original honeymoon plan, and the tiny traveler is about to turn ONE! So this is a special trip...so very unlike the we lived before. Tycho has moved on to greener pastures and was replaced by Clavius Tesla a slightly lesser crater in our pocketbook. And so off to new adventures, we go for stamps in all 3 of our passports (we are going to Alaska & Canada) as we begin this new chapter of The Traveling Curators!

The domes at Casa Grande were the brain child of a female tech executive planning the offices for her future chip building company which never came to fruition due to the outsourcing of microchips to china in the 80's. All that is left are the shells and some foundations. After their bankruptcy this became property of California inside Arizona and then became abandoned. All these buildings were linked through underground tunnels so that no one ever had to go outside in the AZ summer heat.

We have had such incredible experiences traveling to National Parks. There are so many that are well known and beautiful but to become a National Park there has to be something truly beautiful to see there. But some parks like and are less well known! We are excited to give Tycho's renters these two stickers upon their return to add to the fridge after their adventure! They have an awesome journey ahead of them!

We love to track all our travels with Google and leave reviews wherever we go! Then Google gives us a summary at the end of the month and now the end of the year. Managed to go around the world once (in theory) even in the middle of a pandemic! Hopefully in 2022 we double our Bike time and increase our green travel!

We have Tycho back from the hospital and it's good to have our home back and start moving back in and reorganizing our own van to prep it to be listed on Outdoorsy. But we need to test it for awhile first and ensure all these repairs are in perfect condition. It's raining tonight at Lake Pleasant but we are celebrating Christmas by watching The Holiday, enjoying a farm fresh egg nog and whiskey, and getting some rest amidst the ancient Seguaros and enjoying all the chats with family and friends!

Welcome to week 6 on the road! I tried to find just a few photos from the last 5 weeks on the road and it was impossible to just find 6! We are preclempt with gratitude for every parking place we've had for the last 38 nights and we look forward to the few remaining slips we will drive into. We are powering through the central valley today, passing almonds and citrus orchards. We are grateful for the wide highways of California after the two lane winding of the 101 for weeks. I will never love the 99 or the 5 but they are a welcome relief on a day when making time is our priority. It doesn't happen often but when it does, fresh pavement is nice. The farmlands at evidence of a hard season here...the almond trees uprooted laying dead across the plains in some areas and in others the fresh green small trees are taking root where we saw mass uprooted trees last spring.

It feels full circle to be driving through Bakersfield again...where we originally met and adopted Tycho almost 8 mos ago! 16,130 miles later we are deeply satisfied with the risk we took when we jumped into this purchase with both feet. It feels great to have Butter in tow and possess a full knowledge of our systems...even though I did JUST find the switch for our fog lights(2 days after driving through the WORST fog.)

We remain very much in love with each other and this journey. We are growing with gratitude daily as we forge new friendships and revisit old ones! Reminiscing is truly valuable for reflection and every opportunity to tell an old story is means for growing closer together!

We turn towards home with the southeasterly winds today knowing there still so many adventures left to be had!

P.s. We found our forever Christmas Tree!

On our adventures we love to find beauty in unique places. One of our talents is 3D scanning and creating digital replicas of real world objects. When we came across this weathered redwood log we had to scan it. It could be hundreds of years old and ended up on the beach to be weathered by the ocean and time.

Sometimes art is an act of dedication and devotion to the subject. Sometimes it is luck. Sometimes it beckons your eyes to open before they are ready because something is pulling you into the worthwhile. When you obey the calling and rise from the safe, warm, and comfortable to meet nature's request to be documented... occasionally she will reward you with the glory of color and creation.
... And then sometimes nature and the powers of the universe that control coincidence will send you a Brazilian rainforest bird who lives in the RV parked behind your van. All before 9:30am. This day is already incomparable!

Last night was spent at the farm in Oregon just minutes south of Walla Walla, WA. The aroma was intoxicating and the sleep was incredibly sound! We picked up some lavender Earl grey tea for the next few weeks of travel to remind us of this place! After a drive through apple 🍏🍎 orchards and 🍇🍇 Vineyards of SE Washington wine country we are headed West to for another farm sleep with another . This is the most incredible way to travel... sleeping in the driveways of like-minded people. The sound of a rooster makes us feel like we are at home .ranch and the diversity of garden patches, crops, and livestock dwellings gives us fresh perspective and sparks our own homesteading creativity. excercises all of our favorite bits of the human experience. We are overcome with gratitude when we lay our heads on our pillows and when our eyes fall open the next morning!

Headed out on our long fall haul! Hoping to see folks in WY, ID, OR, WA, CA, & AZ! It was 38 last night and we are seeing snow on all the peaks around us. We have Butter with us for this first time on a long road trip. We had to let go of our beloved Bella dog last week after 17 years of being the best dog ever. We felt she needed to come along this trip as well so we could lay her to rest on her favorite beach in California. We are loving spending time in the van, managing our 80sq ft of living space is an incredible respite from our "normal" sized house. The Vedauwoo Rock Formations in WY we're remarkable and we can't wait to spend more time there next summer. We got to finally go to see the Ames Monument which we passed last Spring and vowed to return to. It was incredible under a crescent 🌘 with Venus down below! We saw lots of the milky way but the wind was brutal. Fall is definitely upon us and we are enjoying getting back into our sealegs!
