As I sit here on our Cunard Cruise, I figured I would mention why it is our favourite of the non Disney cruiselines. For one, there is no push on alcohol packages. I get so annoyed with the lines like Princess that keep pushing the various packages. I do the math and it isn't worth it to me but for many, I am sure it is. I know the house always wins and there is no way Princess is doing it to save money for passengers. But again, it works well for people who drink alcohol. But on Cunard if anyone asks in groups if it's worth it, majority of the people say no because the clientele on Cunard is very different. Here tea is a big deal lol.
I love the variety of people on Cunard. So many countries represented with passengers compared to other lines which is mostly American with a few Canadians splattered around lol. Here there are a lot of British and Australians.
The atmosphere is so relaxed. No hairy chest contests lol. Lots of trivia, educational lectures, live music, etc.
You can still get free cappuccinos at dinner. How cool is that. If you are into beer, it's actually fairly cheap. $6.50 a bottle. Mocktails are way too expensive though.
Cunard has a huge library. It's two floors.
The theatre is very nice and classy and no waiters running around serving drinks. So much nicer than some lines where they don't time it well and you have them serving people while the show has started.
Cabins include a kettle, tea and coffee. Everyone gets a half bottle of bubbly too
Tea time is like no other. It's the way it should be.
Ball room dancing is amazing to watch. So many people love to dance and it shows on Cunard.
Pricing is comparable to other lines which is nice.
Food is average but I am not cooking or cleaning, so I am happy
You still get twice daily cabin service. I like that.
Orange juice, cranberry juice, ice tea, coffee, tea and milk is always available at the buffet area for free.
Yes you can order milk and cookies from room service. Just like DCL.
