I get this question all the time …

When you apply for your passport please remember that if you choose expedited services that mailing time is not included in the processing time. It still won’t arrive at a processing center for about 2 weeks.

Once processing is done you should receive it back within 2 weeks of that time. Total time is 4 to 5 weeks with expedited services vs 6 to 8 weeks with routine services.
