Thank you to the 23 guests who joined us this weekend for an afternoon of apnea flow, diaphragm self-massage, and breathwork exercises by the amazing Tessa Ucchino and instructor Ekaterina Borysyuk.

It was such a cosy and beautiful way to connect freedivers and pick up some dry techniques to improve your freediving.... especially during a stormy weekend.

🧜‍♀️ FREEDIVING IS A LIFESTYLE 🧜‍♀️

The rain ☔️ may have caught up with us Sydney-based freedivers, but we were lucky enough to squeeze in an epic event on Sunday with over 70 ocean lovers! 💃

Going into 2025, we’re working hard to put on plenty of community events and ways to connect 🤿 freedivers and ocean lovers into this beautiful lifestyle. It’s something we’ve always been passionate about, and something we’ve worked hard on over the years. Community is what makes this sport a dream. 🥹

📅 We’ve launched our Sydney Freediving Events Calendar and we would love to see lots of new and old faces at our events in and around Sydney 🇦🇺 in the coming months.

Thank you to for helping us bring together 2 amazing communities. Thank you for capturing this day so beautifully, .brinsmead for being on the ground to meet everyone, and thank you to all the people who joined us!

Hey Freedivers,

We are speaking to freedivers that fit into the following:

- Trying to complete their certification but struggling with equalisation or relaxation in the water
- Getting back into freediving after a long break and looking for a gentle re-introduction

This weekend we're hosting a 'catch up day'. This is a special event aimed at getting your more confident in the water and refreshing what you learnt on your course.

You'll spend 90 mins in a group of 2-4 guests, all at a smilar level. Our wonderful and super-experienced instructor, Alessandro, will help guide you through a series of dives to build your confidence and get you relaxed and equalising in the water. No pressure, no comparison.

Plus, if you drop us an email, we will share some EQ tips with you now so that you can practice for a couple of days before the weekend.

THE PHOTOS HAVE LANDED

OK, please don’t murder us Meta. We are taking a break from reels to share to share some still images.

These shots are from our Maldives Retreat last month: A week of living life to its absolutely fullest, making new friends and memories, experiencing pure awe.

Any underwater photographer will know the process involved in reviewing, culling and editing the photos after a group trip. We’re finally finished and here are some of our favourite stills of the week. Thank you to our epic photographers and . What a privilege to have you both.

🌅Why is it so much easier to progress your freediving when you’re in paradise?🌅

Disclaimer: We LOVE diving in Sydney wi try all its strengths and flaws😉…. And we think it’s a great place to prepare you for diving in all kinds of conditions!

Many of our students quickly fall in love with freediving, and they want to progress to advanced, master or even instructor Freediver level. However, it can be difficult to get them onto the pathway when ocean conditions are so unpredictable.

We designed the 🏝️Philippines Freediving Immersion 🏝️to offer our friends, lovers 👀, students and future instructors a chance to learn and progress fast, with conditions on their side. For some of our guests, ‘ocean confidence’ might be the kind of progress they dream of. On the other hand, some won’t rest until they’re officially instructing :) This week is about progress and growth, whatever it means to you.

Here are a few reasons why you’ll progress so much faster during a freediving immersion retreat:-

- 🏝️ Warm water - you can lose the thick, restrictive wetsuit, hoods and heavy weight belt

- 🫐 No current - save your energy for vertical travel instead of wasting it pushing against current

- 🌊 No swell or chop - nothing ruins your relaxation quite like a churn stomach or a snorkel full of water. Calm water = calm Freediver

- 🪸 Epic and interesting dive sites - Our main freediving site, Barracuda Lake, is freedive paradise. Beautiful rock structures, reverse thermocline, clear water all give you an incentive to stay longer

- 📧 No distractions - away from angry bosses, busy social loves, email and deadlines you can just focus on yourself and your journey. Plus, there’s plenty of time to learn other divers, chat with your instructors and prepare properly for your dives

- 🥰 Success through osmosis. You know the saying “you become the average of the 5 people you see the most?”. Imagine who you’ll be after a week spent surrounded by a friendly, supportive community of divers and underwater enthusiasts…..

🐋 OMG. TURN YOUR SOUND UP 🐋 It’s such a beautiful, intense, slightly intimidating and otherworldly feeling to watch a whale emerge from deep water and head up straight towards you. Multiply that by 100 when you’re also listening to the chest-rattling sound of whale song. This beautiful pair of whales cruised around with us for around an hour, moving at a slow sleepy pace. The ‘singer’ showed off his beautiful song. Sounds travels far in water. When THAT sound hits you it sends a vibration through your whole body. You almost can’t believe it. As the whale approached the surface, the closeness felt very intense. We started backing up to avoid being right in the whale’s path and disturbing it. Still, we got to enjoy a few seconds of close eye contact and the feeling of the water spouting and bubbling as it reached the surface. These animals are so elegant and majestic, and being this close makes you feel fragile and small in the best way. It feels like a total privilege. We’re sharing this whole video without a sexy edit or trending audio, to show you all what it’s truly like to be in the moment. A big thanks for the super professional crew at @moorea_expedition and our epic expedition guests who make this all possible. It was their good vibes that created this interaction 🥹 #humpbackwhale #moorea #swimwithwhales
