Gladiators of the Gorge: One of the most exhilarating jobs, anywhere, taking place right now as the Finger Lakes State Parks Scaling Team is busy cleaning the shale walls of loose stone along the popular gorge trails at our various state parks. Captured this a year ago today at Watkins Glen State Park. The only gorge trail where this work has been completed right now is Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca—that gorge trail is open. Work is ongoing at Watkins Glen, Fillmore Glen, Robert H. Treman and Stony Brook and should be completed by late May. This important work saves many injuries as the texture of these walls changes from year to year. Fascinating process!

Our trolleys originated in Pittsburgh, PA. A company known as Pittsburgh Trolley Works shuttled passengers on private tours and special events.
Joe and I are grateful for the opportunity to give the trolleys a second (awesome😀) life in Watkins Glen, NY!!

Memorial Day is a day for honoring the men and women who died while serving in the United States military. This day was originally known as Decoration Day and originated in the years following the Civil War. It became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.

On behalf of the Trustees and staff at the Village of Montour Falls, we join you in honoring all the men and women who have served our country’s armed forces. A special thought to those who represented Schuyler County, protecting our freedom.
