Shawarma is an Arabic rendering of Ottoman Turkish چيويرمى çevirme ([tʃeviɾˈme], "turning"), referring to the turning rotisserie. It is generally either lamb/mutton but today in Tel Aviv turkey. When it's too hot or rainy a visit to a museum is the perfect activity. We discovered this lesser known museum of contemporary art in Herzliya though relatively small had a number of great exhibitions including weaving works based on a Syrian fable of a monkey who is taught to weave or suffer punishment, avant garde illustrators and other artists. Well worth the visit and open on Saturdays till 14:00.

Rakavlit is the Hebrew name for the cable car that runs from the Lev Hamifratz shopping centre on the Bay of Haifa to the Technion and up to Haifa University on the top of the Carmel mountain range. It was designed to circumvent the traffic and tourists can enjoy the great views over Haifa and the bay.It only costs a few shekels and operates continuously Sat-Thurs 10-18:00 and on Friday's 10-13:45.
The journey takes all in all approximately 19 mins and it's a lot of fun!!

Today in Israel we commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, at 10 am a two minutes siren rings out all over Israel. People stop , get out of their cars and stand to pay respect to the Six Million Jewish men women and children who perished between 1939 to 1945.
May their memory be a blessing.
The clip is filmed in Tiberius today.
