We need your help!!!

We are working on getting a professional logo made - an upgrade from the one I threw together real quick over a year ago. 😜

This logo will be used on the sign outside our cabin, on our website, and on social media.

We had almost 200 design submissions and we have narrowed it down to 5!!

FINALLY!!! The cabin is done! We have the keys and we’re moving in!

Yesterday we took our first trip with a load of furniture and other cabin goodies and started getting Comfort + Joy ready for people to enjoy. 🙂

So thankful for amazing friends that helped us get so much accomplished yesterday!! 🥰. We are blessed!

Finally seeing some progress on the cabin y’all!! 🙌

We broke ground over a year ago, but have experienced many delays. 😕. Construction delays, weather delays, sickness delays…. Right now we are waiting on windows and doors!! Hopefully next week. 🤞

Trying to stay patient and positive, knowing God’s timing is perfect.

Here’s hoping it’s done by summer!!!

I love how close-knit the vacation rental community/owners are in Hochatown!

Everyone is kind and helpful, willing to lend a hand and answer questions.

We've connected with a cabin owner who just happens to be a couple doors away and she snapped these update pics and video for me. (Sadly, they are selling their cabin, so if you're in the market, check it out!)

Yes! We are still building our cabin!

It got a slower start than anticipated due to the big freeze in February, followed by tons of rain, plus it's been a busy summer for our family, so I've been behind in posting updates as well! 🙈

This week I finally got around to going through and opening these boxes in the one car garage.

This is where I've been throwing all deliveries for the cabin. Yes, I've already started shopping!!

I actually started during all the Black Friday sales last year! What can I say, I'm a thrifty girl!!

So far I've mostly bought kitchen stuff (small appliances, dishes, pots and pans, etc.), linens, and small decor stuff.

Can't wait to start furniture shopping!! I wonder how much stuff I can fit in here. 🤔

It's become tradition for us to stop at Buc-ee's on our way up to Broken Bow. Last trip we made, I stumbled upon this sign and just knew I needed it for the cabin!! Isn't it perfect?!

We have a bit of a slope down from the road to contend with, but it will also help to make a nice little spot to nestle our cabin.

Welcome to our newest adventure!!

We are building a family vacation cabin in Hochatown, Oklahoma - minutes from Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park, in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains.

It has always been my dream to own a vacation home, and have the potential to turn it into a short-term vacation rental for other families to enjoy. We just thought…..someday - someday when the kids are older, someday when we have more money, someday when the timing was right. Well, that someday is NOW!!

This was a total God thing! We had barely even heard of Broken Bow, let alone had a desire to vacation there. It was not even on our radar for a family trip.

Last fall we booked a trip to Crystal Beach (near Galveston). We had vacationed in Crystal Beach two years prior and were looking forward to taking another trip and taking the grandparents along this time. Well, the day before we were to leave, Tropical Storm Beta reared its ugly head. Voluntary evacuations were put in place, so we weren't about to drive in there with our family of 10! Now what do we do? We were so looking forward to a family trip!!

After a quick search online for a vacation destination within driving distance (away from the ocean), and an even quicker search for a rental home that could accommodate 12 (and that was within our price range), the Lord blessed us with Broken Bow and a beautiful cabin to stay in.

It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful - just what our family needed after being cooped up in our home for most of 2020. And even though it rained for more than half of our stay, we fell in love! We bought the lot we are now building on during that very first trip!

Below is a picture of our little piece of paradise. It's a little over an acre in Timber Creek Trails. The cabin will have roughly 1700 square feet of indoor living space and 600 square feet of covered outdoor deck space. It will have 2 bedrooms (each with a king size bed) with private baths and a bunk room/game room that will have 6 twin bunks, plus another full bath. It will sleep 10 people.

Now that all of the boring stuff like bank paperwork and contracts are out of the way, the building process, the fun part, has finally started!! I hope you'll follow along with our cabin-building adventure!!
