The equivalence of Umrah and Hajj

Ibn ‘Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “(The performance of) ‘Umrah during Ramadan is equal to Hajj (pilgrimage).” Or said, “Equal to the performance of Hajj with me.”

(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Book 10, Hadith 8

Through this hadith, the Prophet ﷺ taught us that although an Umrah may not involve all the same rituals as a full Hajj, it still carries great reward if performed in Ramadhan due to its spiritual significance during this blessed month.
