Spirit Airlines for the win!

Flew Spirit for the first time today, nonstop from Louisville to Las Vegas. I was impressed! Totally exceeded my expectations.

My immediate thought when walking onto the plane was that it looked super clean (cleaner than any other airline I’d been on) and spacious. We paid for the emergency row exit just to have extra room and probably had 5 feet between us and the seat in front of us. I felt my seat was comfortable… maybe a little thinner than major airlines but not that noticeable (to me, at least… but I have a little extra cushion than the boyfriend). Check-in was effortless as with other airlines (I used the app) and they had kiosks for bag tags. No line.

My only negative take aways were that you had to pay for any refreshments (water, soda, snacks) and the bag weight limit was 40lbs whereas most other airlines, it’s 50lbs.

Overall, I was pleased with my budget one-way flight and will definitely fly them again!

Fall not only brings lower temperatures but also lower prices on travel. According to NerdWallet, domestic airfare is down 29% in Sept and Oct compared to summer's peak time. They've even pinned the most affordable week to travel as being the week of Oct 24... the week AFTER I return from my trip! 🤦‍♀️

Domestic airline travel is down this year, while international is up. In response, some airlines (think SW, Spirit, and Frontier) are slashing fares, or running big promos, to keep you traveling in the US.

International prices are up though (10% from 2022 & 26% from pre-pandemic 2019) so the powerhouses, such as AA, Delta, and United, are thriving! And so is Europe… London, Paris, Dublin, & Rome are the top destinations.
