2020 will forever be an unforgettable year! We kicked it off having just hosted two events with  Local in NYC and LA, we expanded our team and partnered with incredible brands to bring you the best products and gear on the market. While travel plans shifted for a lot of us, we loved seeing families embracing road trips and exploring closer to home. While this past year has been unexpected, challenging and nothing like we had planned for... we're thankful you still chose Jupiter for your family's rental needs! One of our most requested rentals is the  Cool Air Mesh Carrier as it's an easy and comfortable way to get around NYC with a baby. For visits with lots of walking and sight-seeing, we recommend pairing it with one of our stroller options. When it comes to family vacations, 2020 will definitely go down as the year of the road trip. We thought this would be a great opportunity to continue sharing a few of our top travel essentials and a few specifically for road trips! First up, this kids interactive travel diary and journal by !

We love this travel journal because it’s filled with tons of thought-starters so kids can capture important stuff, like cool things they spot, new things they try and people they meet. There are also adventure badges to earn, stickers, places to keep photos and other treasures, and postcards to send. We’ve checked in with a few families from our community to share their experiences creating a sense of adventure for their kids without clocking the airline miles they normally would be this summer. For this weeks ‘How to Create Adventure from Home’, say aloha to Priscilla Soulé (), a mama to 3 littles (with a 4th on the way), a small business owner and travel enthusiast. A day doesn’t go by that this family doesn’t find adventure!

*Favorite family vacation spot?: Mexico, hands down! My husband and I have both spent a lot of time in Mexico and we knew it was one place we couldn't wait to share with our children. The culture, the people, the colorful streets, and the amazing food all contribute to our strong love for this country. The boys often beg to move to Mexico and honestly we couldn't be prouder.

*How are you continuing to create adventure while at home?: We feel so very lucky to live here in Hawaii, where the adventuring never stopped. We try to get out on the trails 1-2 times a week and into the water 3-5 times a week. We find that spending time outdoors keeps our family sane through this season of uncertainty! It helps that we pack the night before each adventure, the children are responsible for gathering and carrying their own belongings, then upon returning home they can't enter the house until they've helped empty the car. Since we aren’t currently able to jump on that flight to a far off destination and hop around from museums and parks to restaurants filled with local cuisine, we wanted to ask “How are you creating that same sense of adventure with your kids… from home?”

*Favorite family vacation spot?: While we love just about any type of vacation and our family holds a handful of places dear to our hearts, I'd have to say our favorite spot is Montana. Though I may be slightly biased as it's where I grew up, the state offers so much for families with kids of all ages to do in the summer months. Its natural beauty and national parks make the perfect backdrop for outdoor adventures, something we're all searching for.

*On creating adventure while at home with Sophie?: We've gone in stages since quarantine started in March. At first we dove into all the amazing "virtual vacations" as a means of escape, and then slowly started to get out by going on picnics to pretty places near our home or driving to the beach. The past month we've been fortunate to visit family across the country and have been continuing to safely explore by going on nature walks or glamping for a night. We are not an "outdoorsy" family, but this year we have a newfound appreciation for the beauty around us and are leaning into what is offered close by. Little adventures here and there that are socially distant are helping curb our wanderlust until we can get back to traveling to new places - which we hope is sooner than later!

For us, travel has always been a conversation starter with our children around the topic of new cultures and provided the backdrop for them to experience it as well. Here at Jupiter, we have always and will always stand in support of racial equality. We do not tolerate hate or racism of any kind, ever. Being parents ourselves and providing a service for parents, we decided the best way to use our platform is around the discussion on ways we are educating ourselves and talking with our children about race, kindness, compassion, acceptance and stereotypes. It starts one conversation at a time and it's never too early or too late. If we want to raise socially aware children, we must remember that actions speak louder than words. Our children will benefit the most from the examples we set for them.

There are quite a few resources available for ourselves and our children and we'd like to use this space to share what we have found helpful. If there are other platforms, resources, books, organizations, etc that we can support and shine a light on, please let us know in the comments below.
