Thursday Attraction & Fun Facts!

Slinky Dog Dash

This ride is located at Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios and lasts approximately 2 minutes.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_GB/attractions/hollywood-studios/slinky-dog-dash/

Take off on a family-friendly coaster that twists and turns past giant toys and springs across Andy’s oversized backyard!

Andy’s assembled his Mega Coaster Play Kit—and Slinky Dog is taking you on a wild ride. Slinky Dog’s springy coils stretch to the limit as you bend around curves, zoom up hills and drop back down.

A spring is a marvelous thing—and this attraction is wonderful fun for everyone!

Fun Facts.

The whole backstory of the attraction is built into the queue. You will see the pieces list and instructions for Andy’s Dash and Dodge Mega Coaster kit that lays out what track pieces and props were used. Then there is a drawing of Slinky Dog himself being slotted on top of the set. There are also other items Andy used to create the coaster such as Elmer’s glue, colorful building blocks, and a Ticonderoga pencil.

There are parts of the ride that Slinky will react and talk to you. One of these is after the first long drop when Slinky yells out “Woo-hoo!”

There are two Launches– involved in the attraction. The first happens at the very beginning. The second launch happens later and is a fun welcome edition. It features Slinky Dog having to “tighten” his spring. To simulate this you go slightly backward & then launch found through tunnels as if Slinky just sprung into action.

Now over to you!

Have you tried Slinky Dog Dash ?

If so what did you think of this ride?

If you haven't already experienced this ride do you plan to on your next visit to Walt Disney World?

Please share your thoughts experiences, photos or anything you would like to about Slinky Dog!

Soarin' Around the World

This is one of Epcot's most popular rides. Are you ready for an amazing 5 minute ride around the world?

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_GB/attractions/epcot/soarin-around-world/

Take flight on a breezy, airborne adventure as you hang glide above the breathtaking wonders of the world.

Feel the thrill as you’re raised high in the air and swept from one scenic locale to the next. See the world’s wonders—natural and manmade—like you never have before. No mountain is too high. No landscape is too far.

Your journey begins as the clouds part above the majestic Swiss Alps. Next, you’ll visit polar bears in icy Greenland, swoop past sailboats on Australia’s iconic Sydney Harbour and weave between elephants marching toward Mount Kilimanjaro.

Glide above marvels like the Great Wall of China, the Great Pyramids of Egypt and the Taj Mahal in India. Cruise over Monument Valley, Fiji’s Lau Island and thundering Iguazu Falls in South America. Look down on the Eiffel Tower as it sparkles like a jewel in the night, surrounded by the lights of Paris.

This must-see attraction will leave your heart soaring!

Fun Facts!

Significant numbers are hidden all throughout Walt Disney World attractions. In this case, you are welcomed aboard flight 5505, which reminds us that Soarin’ made its Epcot debut on May 5, 2005. You might also notice a hidden Mickey as the hot air balloons float by and in the fireworks scene finale.

Did you know that the Soarin’ attraction takes up nearly 61,000 square feet of space? There are three identical Soarin’ concourses, and this massive square footage covers them both, as well as the queue and other associated areas.

Soarin’ is the multi-sensory stimulation. Many of your senses are tickled as you see, hear, feel, and even smell the scenes pass by.

Maybe most interesting is the effect of the wind, which makes riders feel like they are moving and tilting at different angles. In fact, there is very little movement!

Now over to you!

Have we any fans of Soarin?

Is it a must do ride for you?

🎈 Thursday Attraction & Fun Facts! 🎈

This week I'd like to talk about Aerophile – The World Leader in Balloon Flight.

This ride is located at Disney Springs and lasts around 8 minutes.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_GB/attractions/disney-springs/aerophile-balloon-flight/

Float high above at it all in the world’s largest hand-painted helium balloon.

Ascend 400 feet into the sky and enjoy breathtaking, 360-degree views during a tethered 8-minute balloon ride experience.

Spot iconic Walt Disney World sights down below. On clear days, you’ll be treated to stunning vistas up to 10 miles away.

Soar into an enchanting fantasy on this one-of-a-kind adventure!

Custom-built for Disney by Paris-based company Aérophile S.A., the Aéro30 is filled with 210,000 cubic feet of helium. The balloon’s 19-foot-diameter basket holds up to 29 people, plus one Aérophile-certified pilot.

Tickets can be purchased at the attraction location on a first-come, first-served basis.
Adult tickets cost $25.

Fun Facts.

It isn’t a hot air balloon.

Many guests automatically assume that it is a hot air balloon experience. This is actually not the case. The balloon is actually filled with helium. The crew has to refill the balloon with fresh helium about every 6 months! It actually holds 210,000 cubic feet of helium if you can imagine that. The balloon is 19 feet in diameter and can hold a total of 30 people including the pilot.

Hours of operation (weather-permitting).

The flights usually start to take off around 8:30-9AM most mornings and then keep going repeatedly throughout the day until around midnight. The hours are subject to change based on various events. The hours are also subject to change due to weather conditions. Flights can’t operate if winds are greater than 22mph or if there are any storms or inclement weather that would prevent guest from safely enjoying the experience.

Now over to you!

⛴Thursday Attraction & Fun Facts!⛴

This week I'd like to talk about Liberty Square Riverboat
This attraction is located in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom and lasts approximately 17 mins.

Cruise the scenic Rivers of America aboard an authentic steam-powered paddle wheeler.
Steam into American history aboard the majestic, Colonial-era Liberty Belle riverboat and enjoy a relaxing half-mile tour around Tom Sawyer Island.

Along the way, listen to a recorded narrator—in the voice of iconic American author and humorist Mark Twain—sharing memories of Twain’s time on the Mississippi.
It’s full steam ahead on this historic, nostalgic trip back to the past!

During this charming, 17-minute trip, you’ll encounter a rarely seen side of Magic Kingdom park. Behold a bevy of sights from the early days of the American frontier, including:
An early American settlement
An idyllic Native American village
Harper’s Mill
Fort Langhorn
Wilson’s Cave Inn
Woodland animals

Fun Facts!
The vessel’s official name is Liberty Belle, a moniker it has held since 1996. From 1973 to 1996, the riverboat was entitled Richard F. Irvine, after a Disney executive.
Liberty Square Riverboat is a steam-powered paddle wheeler, a replica of a vessel that one may have seen sailing the Mississippi River during the 19th century. Liberty Square Riverboat does not, however, operate solely on steam power; it is aided by a submerged rail.

Now over to you.

🦍 Thursday Attraction & Fun Facts! 🦍

This week I'd like to talk about ....Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.
This attraction is located in Animal Kingdom.

Explore a lush tropical forest inhabited by native African wildlife including gorillas, hippos and exotic birds.

Venture into the Heart of Africa
Encounter exotic animals as you trek through dense forests and sprawling savannas. Embark on a self-guided tour of the Pangani Forest and experience amazing creatures in their natural habitats—up-close and personal!

Follow the Trail
Meander along winding paths amid a lush forest trail of African flora and fauna. Spot an adorable meerkat on a rocky perch or an impressive Grevy's zebra on the savanna—before coming face to face with a gentle troop of western lowland gorillas on a grassy hillside—who are just as curious to see you as you are to see them!

During your hike, snap pictures from convenient observation stations and learn more about the animals you see and Disney’s global conservation efforts to protect them.

Fun Facts!
A rock structure designed to look like Jafar from the Disney movie Aladdin can be found on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail.

The P.O. Box at Gorilla Falls is actually the number of writer Keven Brown's extension at Imagineering.

The genesis of the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail came after a team of Imagineers took a trip to Kenya.

☠Thursday Attraction & Fun Facts☠

This week I would like to discuss Pirates of the Caribbean.

This Attraction is located in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. This ride length is approximately 8 minutes.

Set sail on a swashbuckling voyage to a long-forgotten time and place when pirates and privateers ruled the seas.

Board a weathered barge for a treacherous voyage to the 17th century, when rowdy rogues and ruthless rapscallions ransacked Caribbean seaport towns. Sing along as pirates serenade you with their anthem, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).”

Sail past haunted Dead Man’s Cove. Navigate cannon fire between a Caribbean fort and a striking 12-gun galleon. Behold boisterous buccaneers drunk on the spoils of plunderin’ as flames engulf a seaside town.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Captain Jack Sparrow, from The Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Ye beware, mateys: Dead men tell no tales!

Fun Facts!
Pirates of the Caribbean was originally supposed to be a wax museum gallery, teeming with buccaneer figures and model boats. After his success with the Small World attraction, Walt decided to utilize audio, visuals, animatronics and boats to turn the gallery into an actual ride. Because the museum was already underway, Walt had to have it demolished and started from scratch. Thank goodness for Walt’s vision and trustworthiness, for one can infer how rigorous it must have been for workers to start over.

Yo Ho! (A Pirate’s Life for Me)
The notorious and ever so catchy song was written by Disney Imagineers X. Atencio and George Bruns.

Now over to you!
Who's a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean?
Do you do this ride every trip?
What do you love about it?
If you haven't already done this ride do you plan too?
Please share your thoughts, experiences or photos or anything you would like to about Pirates of the Caribbean.

🌞 Thursday Attraction & Fun Facts! 🌞

This week I would like to talk about.... Disney's Carousel Of Progress.

This attraction is located in Tomorrowland Magic Kingdom and it runs for 21 minutes.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en-eu/attractions/magic-kingdom/walt-disney-carousel-of-progress/

A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow Theme Song.
Have a listen but don't blame me if you can't stop singing it 🙂
https://youtu.be/WqBkBxJy470

Discover how industrial advances over the past century have changed everyday living for an American family.

Look back to the past and get a glimpse of the future at Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, a fascinating 21-minute Audio-Animatronics stage show celebrating the evolution of technology throughout the 20th century and today.

This light-hearted show follows a typical American family—narrated by patriarch, John—through 4 generations of the past 100 years. During each era, learn how the technological marvels of the day have made life more convenient, comfortable and fun—and paved the way for even more new and exciting innovations.

Act 1: Spring, Turn of the 20th Century
See how advances like gas lamps, the hand-cranked washing machine and a gramophone made the pre-electric era a breeze.

Act 2: Summer, 1920s
Behold modern conveniences like the electric iron, the radio, the sewing machine and the light bulb— brought to life through the power of electricity.

Act 3: Autumn, 1940s
The automatic dishwasher, an electric exercise machine and the introduction of the television are just some of the wonders that made life in suburbia even easier.

Act 4: Winter, The Present
Today's high-tech marvels include virtual-reality games, high-definition televisions and voice-activated household appliances.

A revolutionary theatrical experience
presented inside a revolving theater, the show includes an innovative audience seating area that rotates around a stationary central stage from act to act like a carousel.

Fun Facts!

When the attraction opened at the Magic Kingdom in 1975 it opened with the song, “The Best Time of Your Life” instead of the original song. In 1994 the attraction was restored to its original glory and “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” came back as the theme song for the attraction.

You will notice that to each side of the stage are areas where other animatronics appear. These are the members of the family that our host is interacting with. In each of the era scenes these side rooms change during the show. There is a scrim over each side and when the lights are out the stages on the side rotate 180 degrees so that you get a brand new scene thus keeping the story moving. You likely wouldn’t even notice the change is happening unless you were looking for it!

Uncle Orville is in a few of the scenes in the attraction. The voice for Uncle Orville is the same actor who voiced Bugs Bunny! Bugs managed to find a way to sneak into the Happiest Place on Earth!

There are actually four different hidden Mickeys in the final scene, the Christmas scene. You will notice a Mickey nutcracker on the mantel over the fireplace. There is also a white Mickey peppermill in the kitchen. You will also notice a painting on the dining room wall that looks like Mickey. Lastly, and probably most obviously, there is a plush Mickey within the presents.

Now over to you!
