"The sea cliffs here on the islands are astounding, mammoth-like walls that shoot hundreds of meters up out of the ocean. This shot gives you an idea of just how massive they are, and it's only showing HALF of the way down"

- Jim Golden, Photographer

Some of the advices are to always wear proper clothing and do not leave if there is thick fog or if it is getting dark outside – Be prepared for the fact that meteorologists can be wrong or that the Faroese weather can suddenly change after you have left.

Condé Nast Traveler states this as 1 of 18 reasons to visit the Faroe Islands:

“Unrivaled natural beauty

The archipelago has the type of striking views typical of volcanic islands, like windswept mountains, crashing waves, and jagged coastlines like the rock formations of Drangarnir, the name of two sea stacks between Tindhólmur and Vágar”, pictured here by

Sunset in Klaksvík 🌞 Klaksvík is the second-largest town in the Faroe Islands with a population of 4,800 inhabitants.

The city is the fishing capital of the Faroes, and the fishing industry sets its notable mark on the town. Down by the quay, you can experience the atmosphere of the small open-deck boats that set out to sea.

Little village of Elduvík, population 12:

"The town at the end of the road are rarely erected out of convenience. It's a huge draw for me, the inconvenience of it all. I think our unknowing addiction to convenience is silently robbing us of the beautiful contentment's in life.

There's a romantic notion about laboring over something and taking the slow path, perhaps the warmth of a gourmet, home cooked meal is a great example versus fast food and ordering in. Convenience is great in small doses, but when left unchecked we lose sight of the art of living. Just think of how inconvenient the things we love are. Something to think about, what convenient things we can't live without, like a dishwasher, and what inconveniences you'd like to add into your life, like cooking, learning something new, or having a kid/ pet.

Too often we say convenience makes time for our joys, but we spend that extra time binging Netflix."

- says Jenny Wong who took this picture of the old little village of Elduvík, which directly translated means Firebay 🔥

"We eventually made it out of the fog only to emerge to a road overlooking the picturesque village of Gjógv, population 49. Gjógv is fairly popular amongst travelers and I don’t know anyone who has been to the islands who has skipped this quaint place by the sea. Gjógv means ‘gorge’ in Faroese and represents the famed sea-filled gorge that photographers flock to in hoards to take a photo of"

Did you know: One of World's Oldest Parliament is in the Faroe Islands:

Tinganes is the historic location of the Faroese landsstýri (government), and is a part of Tórshavn. The name means "parliament jetty" or "parliament point" in Faroese.

The parliament met there for the first time in the Viking ages when Norwegian colonists placed their Ting (parliament) on this location in 825. It is one of the oldest parliamentary meeting places in the world, along with Tynwald hill in the Isle of Man and Þingvellir in Iceland (930 AD). The Løgting has since moved to the north of the city, but the home-rule government and president house, Løgmaður, still stands here at the same place.

"The village of Mikladalur left me speechless. Population 24, living in houses on top of waterfalls, the crashing waves of the ocean right underneath everything. Facing this spot during a heavy rainstorm made up for a challenging photo session, yet it was perfect to catch these nice and wild Atlantic vibes. This spot is definitely a must-see if you ever visit the Faroes, it’s full of incredible photo opportunities and awesome experiences"

Yes, we are back with another picture of a grass-roofed house in the Faroe Islands 🙂

This time it’s in the beautiful village of Kirkjubøur just as a storm was about to approach the photographer Kazim Ghafoor.
