Lil’ Lodge at Grindstone - rental for friends and family of Grindstone cottage owners

Lil' Lodge is a quaint furnished all-season cottage with 2 bedrooms (1 w/double bed, 1 w/futon), and 1 bathroom with shower (no tub). It has a fully equipped kitchen, window a/c unit, baseboard heat, and a covered deck with patio furniture and a propane BBQ. The Grindstone cottage community consists of over 400

cottages within Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park. The community is surrounded by the splendid wilderness of the mainland peninsula on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg. A 10 - 15 minute drive north of Riverton on Hwy 8 will bring you to the turn-off onto Grindstone Rd. Another 15-20 minute drive along Grindstone Rd. leads to five different cottage subdivisions, all connected by scenic walking trails. There are many opportunities to see local wildlife along the trails such as deer, moose, squirrel, fox, martin, otter, beaver, and bear as well as many species of birds. There are two main sandy beaches in Grindstone Park - one at Black’s Point Subdivision, a 10 minute walk from Lil' Lodge. The second beach is larger, with a playground area and is near Little Grindstone Harbour in the North Cliffs subdivision - a 5 minute drive north down Grindstone Rd. Lake Winnipeg is teeming with fish including Pickerel (Walleye), Sauger, Perch, Northern Pike (Jack), Goldeye, Whitefish, White Bass, Crappie, Drum, Catfish, White Sucker, & Carp. You can drop in a line from a boat or from the shore at any public access point. Fishing licenses can be purchased online at https://www.manitobaelicensing.ca/licensing.page

There are two boat launches: For boats 16ft and under , at Black’s Point Beach and for larger boats at the Little Grindstone Harbour located in the North Cliffs subdivision. Grindstone is surrounded by many islands including Deer Island, Goose Island, Black Island, and Punk and Little Punk Islands. It is a 45 minute drive or a 20 minute boat ride to Hecla Island which offers a beautiful 18 hole golf course, docking, restaurants, as well as swimming at Gull Harbour.
