So after the Bridge bash 😣 the private marina Phil had actually found was superb, a quay side bistro with great food.
Today we set off 8:30am as bridges don’t open till 9am in the posh part of Holland.
Only 10 miles but took 3hrs at a snails pace. But we had such a beautiful trip it’s definitely worth coming back to explore more. If Phil tells you about me hanging the boat in a lock as was asking the near by Cade for a bacon sandwich! It’s a lie 🤪
De Valk yacht brokers have been very good and let us sleep in their show room marina tonight.
We just came back from dinner across the lake with our new friends, The Flir night vision camera help to gain entry at 10:45pm back into the sales marina as you can see from picture !
Thanks to Phil for helping to deliver Joie de vivre to Amsterdam.
Hopefully she sells soon as she is a fine vessel
We fly back to London then Jersey tomorrow.
A YouTube video will be edited when home to cover this aquastar on tour trip.

Nieuwpoort - Belgium to Rotterdam then another 6 hrs inland.
130nm today and 12 hrs In total.
Short choppy sea up north then some serous river and canal action.
Slight issue with a low bridge ☹️ - blame Phil as he had bananas with him onboard.
Tomorrow strip roof furniture again for low bridge out of our lovely hide away marina to head 3 hrs up to our destination.

So the last night has arrived 😊 Falmouth to st Helier tomorrow. 130nm trip - We expect to be coming through the pier heads in Jersey about 5pm. We hope fully shall tie up on pontoon 5 by life boats for a while. Its be a trip of a life time for the crews and we have raised a hefty sum for Charity - thank you all who have donated.

26/05/2022

Update from the crew No22.
We leave Conwy and head South the whole length of Wales to Neyland Yacht Haven.
Joie de Vivre's alternator is fixed and charging properly but the crew discover another problem.
150nm today which was a long day. Topped off by Neil getting his fingers cut up in the drones blades.
Tomorrow is a rest-day and we hope to tour Dale boat factory.

24/05/2022

Update from The crew No20.
The crew head south for a bumpy crossing from Bangor Northern Ireland to Peel in The Isle of Man.
Problems for Joie De Vivre.
We spend 2 days in Peel as the wind again is to strong to move on.
Plans are to push on to Conway once the wind drops off tomorrow.

20/05/2022

Update from the crew No19.
A weather day today on Land. The team relax and catch up on some sleep.
We head inland to Belfast for the day and visit the Titanic Belfast, 10/10 Brilliant exhibition. After some beer time we head back to the boats to get them ready for an early start tomorrow when we aim to leave 7am to take advantage of a wind drop, and push down towards the Isle of Man.

19/05/2022

Update from the crew No18.
The crew leave Scotland and head for Northern Ireland.
Troon Marina to Bangor 65nm. All be it the video footage it seems flat calm ! it was very much not so.
April Roses autopilot still not working Phil had to hand steer all the way which is no easy feat.
The gap in the wind was perfect and two hours after our arrival it was blowing hard again.
The forecast was not looking good for tomorrow either.
So we have booked the Titanic Belfast exhibition.

18/05/2022

Update from the crew No17.
We leave Portavadie for Troon. Via a short hop over to Tarbert harbour for fuel and a bite to eat.
Wind was Forecast to be strong today but we would we completely sheltered along the coast as it was Easterly.
Trip took 3hrs today. We passed the Isle of Arran and Bute where we flew the drone.
Troon Marina was another 5 star job. very smart and had great facilities so i got my laundry done.
The town has a massive timbre mill here, where boat and truck loads of tree trunks arrive for processing into building timbre.
Forecast for tomorrow is for the F6 Southerly to drop for a 5 hour window to a F4 in the afternoon so fingers crossed we will be heading to Northern Ireland.

17/05/2022

Update from the Crew No16.
Crinan Canal in some Scottish sunshine. Plenty locks today and even an Otter.
We keep heading South to Potavadie. An amazing marina but little else around, not even a pub.
Wind Forecasting is always on the crews mind and they change hourly.
The plan is currently to hug the coast and shelter from the F6 winds that seem to be blowing for a couple of days now.
We find a gap in the weather and jump to Ireland.

Crinan Canal

15/05/2022

Update from the crew No14.
A short 2 hr trip South to Mallaig from Skye.
With wind forecast to be strong soon we were keen to get into the next Marina.
We had to stay here for 2 days for the wind to pass, but this was a pleasure as Mallaig Marina was outstanding and probably had the best facility's we have experienced.
Colin managed to spend a whole afternoon doing laundry some how and Rob also departed on a train home.
The teams where well feed and watered so ready for the off the next day to the Crinan Canal.

14/05/2022

Update from the crew No13
Ullapool to Kyleakin on Skye. 80nm in mixed conditions.
This place is seriously stunning !
The weather forecast is looking poor again for the next few days so we need to push on early doors the next day.

13/05/2022

Update from the Crew No12.
A failed attempt to seize a drop in wind, to cross to Isle of Skye on an 80nm route. The boats took a good bashing on the first headland we had to round when we lost the shelter of land and gained a taste of the SW F6 gusts head on. We decided to head back the 20 miles we had come and explore ashore for a couple days.

11/05/2022

Update from the crew no'10.
A short leg from Lochinver to Ullapool after the previous long day.
The crew relax down Loch Broom before resting back in Harbour for the night. Finger where crossed as the wind was due to Blow up the next day.

10/05/2022

Update from the Crew no9.
Wick Harbour to Orkney islands then along the north of Scotland and passed Cape wrath and down to Lochinver port for a well earned rest after 140nm. The landscape is so stunning up here with the rolling hills and mountains.
April rose should be now on AIS also !

09/05/2022

Update from the Crew No8.
2 days in harbour as 'April Rose' undertakes maintenance after a collision with a hidden rock in Wick which could have ended the Circumnavigation attempt.

08/05/2022

Update from the crew No7.
Peterhead to Wick- started of smooth with a decent swell but soon turned angry as the wind moved to NW as we aproached John O' Groats, so we headed for the shelter of Wick.
The crew had a rest day here also after April Rose struck a rock just outside the harbour and needed repairs.

07/05/2022

Update from the crew no 6.
Arbroath to Peterhead
The best welcome so far in Arbroath, The crew celebrated arriving in Scotland.
