First time we have had the van on the road for a while…. Then the gearbox broke 😢. Back to the workshop for Marigold. Hopefully we can fix it quickly.

It’s all about keeping it local! Thanks Lizzy & Rosie the dog who live two doors up from us. We now have a full set of cushions for when we get Marigold back from the workshop 👏👏

The new cushions have arrived and a new engine is on the way for Marigold! We are getting super excited to get back on the road. Our fully restored camper van will be ready for booking in 2022 (we sort of want to enjoy it first 😉).

The outside restoration of “Marigold” is complete, we just need to replace the engine now before she is ready to hit the road. She does look beautiful 😍 though.

It’s been a busy day in the workshop. Progress on the bus has come along so much this weekend with our Master of the paint Glenn. Now for a new name.... Tango or Marigold?

Van, update - it’s still in the work shop but we got a smile today 😁 We have gone all the way back to bare metal and are making good the bodywork. Not so sure that Glen likes the van too much at the moment though 😬

Van update, the old paint is painfully coming off and repairs are being made. A big thanks to Glenn ❤️ in a cold workshop carrying out his auto magic. Can’t wait to see Hovis in it’s new colours

We have lots of small jobs to do on Hovis over the winter before he is ready to rock & roll next summer. If anyone is on furlough and has some classic experience get in touch. We are looking for someone who would like a weekend away next year in return for some time giving us a hand 🤚

As many of you know, we are a start up business. We purchased our first camper called Hovis, 1 month ago. Today we have him running! He will now be prepared for a respray. We are so looking forward to having some campers ready for a 2021 staycation!

This is an exciting time for us as we start our VW Camper Van Hire Business, we are planning to launch in January 2021.

At the moment we are looking for investment to help the wheels start turning.Have a read below about you can get involved with our project.

The start of our journey

We are starting a family owned and run VW Camper Van hire business in Welwyn Hertfordshire that will be operational for 2021.

The aim is to let as many people enjoy the sense of freedom and adventure that only a classic VW camper van can offer.

The camper vans can be hired for a week, weekend or mid week hire period.

Starting with an initial 2 vans we have a 10 year plan to let our business grow organically.

Our aim is to purchase two vans, which will be refurbished during 2020. We will take bookings from January 2021 for both vans.

Every 2 years we will aim to add another van to our fleet, we need time to grow the business alongside our other commitments. We will not take a wage from the business for the first 5 years. Any profit we make will be reinvested into the business.

Our goal is to have a fleet of 7 Classic VW Camper vans to hire by 2030 when we will have full time staff to help manage the vans and hires.

We believe that people will be looking to holiday at home for the next few years due to recent events.

What better way to explore England than in a classic VW camper.

Each camper van would be maintained to the highest possible standard with care from a VW loving family at our core.

Our long-term plan involves an apprenticeship scheme where we can offer training on restoration and repair on our historic fleet.

We have premises and a workshop secured for vans so we are all set to go.

Help on the road

We are looking for some crowd funding to get us started. Starting a VW camper van hire business is a huge investment that we are firmly committed to.

The amount that we would like to raise is £20,000. This amount will help with the restoration of the vans to get them to an appropriate standard for the hire rental market.

We have already secured premises, a workshop, booking systems and business assets to proceed.

If we could find 4 people who would like to donate £5,000 each then we will be able to complete the restorations without any bank loans and be debt free before we start on our journey. This we feel would give us an amazing opportunity to jump start and start up.

In return, anyone who donates to our start up will be guaranteed free use of a camper van for 2 weeks each year for the next 5 years. This would equate to over £7,000 if you were to hire the vans over the same time period.

If we have a van available from September 2020 we will give everyone who donates and additional week so you can be the first ones to have a test drive and give us some feedback.

The vans can be gifted to family members or friends to use so this could be a great donation for all the family to benefit from.

You would have priority booking of the vans at the start of the year. You would only be able to take 1 week during the “longer days” rental period each year. Otherwise the rest of the year is yours to choose from.

In order for us to move forward with the restoration we would need to secure funding before 31st August 2020.

We are looking for a maximum of 4 people to donate.
