Located on the edge of the village of Lympstone in East Devon our well equipped one bed holiday let ‘The Curlew’ has just been completely refitted with new furnishings ready for the summer season. Karen and Steve look forward to welcoming you to The Curlew, our holiday let which is located on the edge of the pretty fishing village of Lympstone in East Devon. Set on the estuary of the River Exe bet
ween the popular seaside resort of Exmouth and the historic City of Exeter, our reverse level 1 bedroom property is named after a Curlew, one of many sea birds that migrate to the estuary at different times of the year. The Curlew accommodates 2 people. On the ground floor the king sized bed has high quality bed linen, duvets and a choice of pillows to provide a great nights sleep after a day out walking or spent on the beach, together with a large en-suite shower room complete with soft fluffy towels and bathrobes. Sliding patio doors open on to your own enclosed private deck and lawned area with seating giving you the chance to enjoy views of our paddocks (where our 3 alpacas live) the countryside views beyond and a well earned glass of something. On the first floor there is a vaulted living area containing a fitted country kitchen with dishwasher, washer dryer, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, Nespresso coffee maker, electric oven and hob. In addition there is a large sofa, table and chairs, 32inch smart TV, cosy woodburner and, of course, WIFI ! The Curlew is located adjacent to the owners property but privacy is assured and private parking is available for one car. Within the village there are 4 pubs all serving food and all walking distance, the closest being just a 2 minute stroll. An evening drink in the village watching the beautiful sunsets over the river is a must! There is also a coffee shop, village store, train station allowing car free travel to Exmouth, Topsham, Exeter and beyond, plus a regular bus service which stops a short walk from the property. If you fancy treating yourself, there is fine dining or afternoon tea available at Michelin starred Lympstone Manor less than a mile away. The restaurant is run by celebrity chef Michael Caines who has also just opened a new café and casual restaurant, Mickeys, on Exmouth seafront. Exmouth and Topsham have a varied selection of pubs and restaurants and for something different the floating River Exe Café accessed by water taxi, is an experience (though advanced booking is required). For your provisions there is a Marks and Spencer food hall and large Tesco in Exmouth. For local produce there is the famous, award winning Darts Farm in Topsham which offers high quality farm produce, a restaurant and take away food including fish and chips. The River Exe trail, a 26 mile cycle and footpath can be joined from Lympstone and covers both sides of the estuary starting at Exmouth and finishing at Dawlish where a ferry can be taken back across to Exmouth. For further walking opportunities, the East Devon way can be accessed via the back gate to our paddock. Exmouth boasts a 2 mile stretch of sandy beach and newly opened Sideshore watersports centre with equipment and lessons available. You can enjoy time on the beach or a stroll on the promenade with plenty of places to stop off for coffee and cake or something stronger. Exeter is well worth a visit with its cathedral, museum and great shopping and dining. The newly opened ‘The Ivy’ is well worth a visit for the food, cocktails and beautiful decor! Once you arrive at the Curlew you can enjoy all this without having to get back into your car until its time to head home. Your break can be as active or relaxing as you want it to be. Would recommend downloading the Stagecoach app if wanting to use the buses and GWR for the trains as Lympstone is not a manned station and tickets are purchased on the train or online. If planning to use your car the Ring Go app covers most car parks in the area.
