One of the earlier episodes in this series saw Monica and Rob travel to the Kingdom of Bhutan to explore an amazing Himalayan hideaway set in the heart of this mystical country with unforgettable views overlooking the Phobjikha Valley.

I was so lucky to visit this beautiful glacial valley myself during my trip to Bhutan last year - it has the most breathtaking and picturesque landscape and rich cultural heritage with the 17th century Gangtey Monastery one of the most beautiful in the country.

There are so many amazing vineyards to choose from in the wonderful Douro region to enjoy a tour and wine and port tasting. On this occasion, I was looking for an authentic and truly personal wine tasting experience and wowโ€ฆ did we find exactly that at Casa do Romezal, a small winery on the hills outside Regua. We spent a couple of hours in the company of wine maker Luis hearing all about the history of his own familyโ€™s journey and the wines of the Douro and the estate. We tasted some wonderful white, red and port wines and absolutely loved the estateโ€™s olive oil too. Luisโ€™ passion is so contagious and we left (with a few boxes of Gueda wines and olive oil of course) knowing that we will most definitely be back ๐Ÿ˜€.

Fabulous food in Portoโ€ฆ and not a francesinha in sight! What an amazing treat it has been to explore the Porto food scene. Loved the recently opened Nuno Mendes restaurant A Casinha das Flores along with the fabulous seafood at the renovated Mercado do Bolhao and a delicious lunch at the hidden Japanese gem SHIKO!

Last minute changes are not always a bad thingโ€ฆ our amazing bedroom view in Porto ๐Ÿ˜. Sitting out the storm here instead of driving up the mountain ito Serra da Estrella as we didnโ€™t bring snow chains - never thought I would utter those words in Portugal ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฅถโ„๏ธ

Next stop on our amazing road tripโ€ฆ exploring one of Portugalโ€™s hidden gems, the Aldeias do Xisto in the center of the country. This network of 27 villages was built entirely out of schist which is a type of slate as far back as the 12th century - they are amazing! The setting between mountain slopes and beautiful river beaches is spectacular ๐Ÿ˜
