New Zealand government is highly motivated to see the 36th Americas Cup go ahead but is equally anxious not to lose the huge gains made in containing the coronavirus pandemic early.

Obviously all syndicates want to be in NZ within several months to begin training on the radical 75-foot foiling monohulls that remain untested in racing situations.

American Magic have already shipped their first generation boat to Auckland, making the call early and gambling that the travel restrictions will ease.
The British syndicate is waiting to see what unfolds as they juggle whether to continue testing in Portsmouth or pack it off to New Zealand.
Luna Rossa is training in Sardinia and not planning to arrive in Auckland until local spring.
Kiwis just received Te Aihe finally back from Europe where the pandemic cancelled warm up regattas in Italy and England. Team was using a small-scale test boat to work through their design tweaks.

While watching how the New Zealand’s response to the pandemic is unfolding all teams are currently building their second generation boats.

The Asia-Pacific remains the last stronghold of untouched beauty spots, crystal clear waters, and an authentic history and culture. It is no surprise that more and more superyachts are venturing to these waters to explore and experience a once in a lifetime trip.
To visit the Asia-Pacific region by yacht is to continue a long-standing legacy of exploring these waters by boat. Humans first arrived in the Pacific by watercraft, kick-starting an enduring and sacred relationship with the ocean, and this love affair with the sea has never died.
