Had been keen to get to this particular spot for a while, did not disappoint. Another magical highlands location creating wonder & fascination. Trees mostly look dead except for new growth above, lichen dripping from their branches. Dry & crunchy underfoot as the mossy carpet has already dried out for summer. Def a spot to revisit when there’s snow about 💛🧡🖤🤍💚✨

Magic night on the Central Plateau. Sitting hidden away in a fave spot, clearly hearing the “ooooo’s & ahhhhh’s” of guests up on the dam wall, amazed at the sunset reflections across a mirror calm Lake Augusta & devils running up the wall. Warms the heart every time knowing others are enjoying this special place 🤍🕊️💜

October 2022, saw the ferocity of Ibbott’s Rivulet take out the bridge on Lake Augusta Road, moving boulders, logs, concrete pipes & eliminating access to the central Plateau for around 7 weeks until a temporary Bailey bridge was positioned, as a diversion around the damage. contractors have now completed the new bridge installation & there’s no doubt, this will hold up against anything the rivulet is going to throw at it in the future! Nice work, thanks, recognition & grateful appreciation to the work of the contractors! 👌💯

Rangers perform their critical work across the seven continents. Each of these continents have a highest peak. These seven highest peaks have a combined elevation of around 40,000 metres. The Tasmanian originated/co-ordinated Seven Summit Challenge will see Rangers climb the equivalent in a fortnight, from Saturday 21 October to Sunday 5 November!

Rangers from across Tasmania, mainland Australia, and each of the seven continents, will tackle peaks, hills, and stairs in their area, logging their elevation gain along the way.

Funds raised will purchase 2 motorbikes and much needed computers for Timor-Leste’s Forest Guards.

Has been 12 months since the floods, completely taking out the bridge across Ibbott’s Rivulet! Exciting to see the new bridge works commencing …. no more concrete pipes!! 🍾🥂🪅

10k wander into “The Hilton”, with a creative improvisation to cross Little Pine with the water too high to easily cross. Even with the burnt landscape, the isolation & silence contribute so strongly to the never ending beauty of the Plateau. Extra treat was finding the remains of an old ruin 💛 🖤🧡
